Re: Morning!

Hi Staggerlee Thanks mate glad you like it. If i'm honest this is the first time i've tried to do metal and I basically followed a very good tutorial on CMoN by Automaton http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1649-metallics. I changed one or two things however. Base coated with Vallejo model air sil...

Hi folks Sorry I've neglected this WIP a little over the past weeks! Grefven you are absolutely right and I've painted in some sun-aged silvering and some random weathering, hopefully it looks better. i'm feeling like i'm on the homeward stretch with Malacant. Crikey, something was achieved! I got a little bit of painting time in last night so I thought I'd work on the big fella. Preparing the metal and worked a little on the shield and belt. Re: Morning!

Thanks Mariano Progress has been very slow of late. Work is just getting in the way of any meaningful painting. I've currently got both Malacant and the forgeworld Avatar simmering in the background and Vulkan has just arrived. So as soon as I get a chance I'll hopefully sit down and get a few hours...

Thanks Grefven :) Andy I've always enjoyed drawing and I studied art in college and special effects and product design at uni, although I dropped out after 1 year (something I still regret to this day) I've run pubs for the last 15 years and up until recently my only artistic outlet was doing my cha...

Thanks guys.

Yep. I don't want to be misleading so I guess Horus is the first 100% in terms of paint job and base. Obviously good old Galhwch was my first minature but he's not based and I want to revisit him :) still need to finish up Malacant as well

Thanks Grefven. I've learnt so much on Malacant and Horus and I'm sort of tempted to revisit Galhwch! Thanks Mariano. The reworked face looks great Andy. I think you're right and can push the colour a little more and as Andy said, up the highlights. With regards to the base. Re: Slinky's Darklands models

Looking good Slinky. I'd recommend you thin your paints a little more and try and push the contrast between shadow's and highlights. Thinned paints and a series of washes/ glazes will keep all the lovely detail of the miniatures and really improve your colour transitions. There's tons of great sites...
