Re: Starting Albainn

haha, lets just say I've been where you are but had a bit of advance notice as got pulled into the playtest group by Jon Chester. I've now decided to just bite the bullet and actually buy multiples of those units because I really like the models and as I play saga too it give me an easy cross over f...

Re: New muster rules: individuals

Yeah I saw that bit too and don't quite follow it either, would be good to clarify how this works. I wondered if it was something aimed more at standalone sell swords than being able to buy characters from within your own faction but think I'd need to sit and write it out with the rules to hand in o...

Re: Starting Albainn

Just realised I'd posted about what other factions over on Erainn and now spotted that like me you're into both of them. I'd say don't be too disheartened, there is still the option to make these factions work with your model collection. Were you planning on basing the Erainn & Albainn the same?...

Re: Érainn collection

Which kindreds are you going for? Most can be worked around using the characters ability to unlock stuff. Erainn are more heavily restricted due to the Ancient Fen beast having to be the general to unlock the mainstay and not just a commander. So I end up with: Erainn - 3 x 10 infantry Albainn - a w...

Re: Érainn collection

There will be more diversity to come for erainn, rob has said as much, so it's an issue of them being one of the newer kindreds. Still frustrating for now.

I've just bought up to min requirement for erainn, albainn & khthones as actually don't mind how it will make them look on the table.

Re: Érainn collection

New muster rules means you'll need min Ri tuath/taoiseach and 3x10 tuanagh for mainstay or an ancient fen beast and 3x3 fen beasts to fulfill the mainstay requirement.

Oghureach

Just looking through the Albainn muster and it lists the Oghu Slayers as the unit to use as the Oghureach but I can't find pictures of it anywhere, is it from a KS or something that has just appeared in artwork or what?

Re: What i want for Christmas

And can I have a second version narrated by Timmy where he uses full colloquialisms and actual play terms for the rules. So zappy zappy Magic (ranged damage spells) and running up and twatting (charging) things.

Re: Starting Albainn

I'm pretty certain I'll end up 'all in' on albainn. First model I painted for the faction was gomagg. He's amazing to paint and looks so cool.

I like the sound of the oghur and quite liked the models but as not in a bundle I've not picked them up as yet.

Re: Tell me about your Kindreds

Khthones - MI faction, cool big kroks & snakes. Already got 2000g painted as models available. Probably a 2ndry faction per your definitions above as don't have to have everything but lots! Erainn - purely due to Tim Fisher and his social media posts when play testing, bog beasts sucking people ...

Re: GiraffeX's Darklands Minis

Do not be intimidated by the Gorgorar! I've not done them but done a bunch of the Gorgonar and they take paint so well it's a pleasure to work on them. Basecoat, drybrush then wash and they start to look fantastic and that's next to no work to do! Like what you've been posting up so far all the pain...

Re: Pirate's Ysian Log (and other things)

To avoid paint rub/chip on metal models just dullcoat isn't enough. You really want to put 1-2 layers of gloss on first and then hit it with dullcoat to take the shine off.

Like how the cloaks are looking.

Reaper bones range can get you some large & relatively cheap figs. But they're a weird material, so completely different from mierce stuff.

Really like the skintones, you could push the recesses darker if you wanted a bit more contrast but still looks good as is.

Agree with above that currently the horns & wood are looking quite 'samey'.

trolls all look great and I do agree with you Mierce sculpts tend to make a pretty simple paintjob still look good. Certainly mine haven't required the amount of work as some other model ranges I've painted to look as good as they do.

really like those birdmen models, almost tempted me to norse but I resisted, intrigued to see what you do to them. Did I see elsewhere you were listed as Bristol based? If so I'm local to you, I've still not played a game as yet but would be interested in trying it out at some point if you're up for...

Erainn - because tim fisher is on Twitter

For any Twitter users I heartily recommend following Tim on Twitter, he's not the most prolific of posters but goes through bursts. I happened to catch onto darklands when he was testing out some of the erainn rules and his descriptions of the faction and his preferred play style rubbed off on me so...

Re: Dave's Darklands delights for your delectation

But one thing has caught my eye more than anything other - the armour of the Gorgonar looks stunning, can you please share your technique how you did the metal? I can't remember the exact colours which went into it as I use all sorts of different paint ranges but I can guess at what I've used and g...

Re: Dave's Darklands delights for your delectation

Units locked down I moved to characters for the Snakemen. Possibly my favourite model in the faction is the gorgonargos (wizard). http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/dafruk/mierce/B562167F-953B-4F43-B022-04CD99EBDE7C_zpsnoxqywlk.jpg Such a pleasure to paint and I even tried my hand a kanji on the...

Re: Dave's Darklands delights for your delectation

Now for the kthones. I originally picked up the snake dudes to potentially make an ogre army for WFB but then AoS happened and I get 2 for 1 now. That actually was a large motivator for getting it all painted up, plus falling in with the playtesters crowd helped too! I got told krokod were ace, so p...

Dave's Darklands delights for your delectation

In keeping with others in gonna blog up my armies. I'll start off by posting up my kthones which I've already painted but then I have erainn and albainn coming from the metal age KS (and more from the support too!) I've still not played a game but have over 2000 gold painted and ready for when I fin...
