The second paragraph of the Devour part of the grab rule also states ‘sometimes the act of devouring an enemy warrior can increase the constitution...’ just for reference pg219. The use is it’s a grab attack so an instant kill on a failed skill test so better for dealing with MI that are low skilled...

Re: Swooping/diving and grabbing gigantic units.

Ah so different from generic Grab action then, serves me right not reading the rules fully! That is overly powerful as a failed grab test is an auto kill, this makes the draiggoch a terrifying prospect against low skill 120mm monsters that are at full constitution as you can just go for the instant ...

Not all devourers gain constitution back, if you check the big beasts (and similar models in the Erainn muster) and it details the regaining of constitution.

Re: Swooping/diving and grabbing gigantic units.

Just to check that the Valhrafn is a 120mm base? If so it can’t grab the meat hulk as you can only grab 80mm or smaller. The only exceptions with grab is devour, some models can do equal or any smaller bases, and constrictor which can grab anything but has a penalty and bonus depending what they grab.

They can ambush if they come on from a board edge or due to their Forester special rule they can Emerge from wooded terrain.

I believe you can merge Action, a Howl, and an Ambush Action all in the same activation but I'm not 100%.

As Rob said you sacrificed mobility and they have to be one of the last units to activate. Though for maybe the first hour have them volley then swap them to shoot to get them moving away and harassing. It also depends if you’re able to take the fight to your opponent if they aren’t able to put pres...

Yeah fair point about the play style of what you face. A similar thing could be said of some ysian builds. If a lot of the stuff you're facing is big smash mouth frenzied units then attacking the chain of command wont have a huge effect - it would mean you've got more chance of going first though e...

It entirely depends on the hosts make up if the option is available to me. Out of my two regular opponents one with formoraic often has a unit of tarvax with tain and pigs at a minimum sometimes including the tarvox which forces me to prioritise these as they prevent me having time early game. Question on the Melding Metal spell for the Khthones. If you choose a weapon it has its attack dice reduced to a minimum of 1.
