Re: Bishmeister's Darklands Hobby Blog

Here's the process I use to create the floor tiles. Re: Bishmeister's Darklands Hobby Blog

It's been a long time since I posted here despite saying I would post more often. This thread needs an update and I'll be taking a retrospect look at the Darkholds: Byzantii Catacombs board I made for Salute 2018. Firstly a bit of background on Darkholds. This was going to be a Mierce Miniatures 'du...

Re: Compel and influence episode 13 Terrain Challenge results

Great work guys. Paul's thicket looks very effective, good height and seems quick and simple to achieve. James' moorland is also realistic looking, great to see some height with rock formations. Hugh, well, I'm not sure this is a hill, more of a rock formation. I look forward to seeing this finished...

Mierce Miniatures 360 Rotational Videos

This thread will be populated by 360 rotational videos of Mierce Miniaturres. I intend to update this with my Mierce collection. This will hopefully help people with the construction and modelling of the larger miniatures. Fomoraic Gaanh, Walvax Tain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucS9LFHQofs Conaa...

Norse longships

Do Trolls/Hrafnmen/Jotun help with rowing the longships?
If so, do the longship designs differ from historical ones to account for their larger bulk?

Re: Bishmeister's Darklands Hobby Blog

The drive to Salute was uneventful but it was a very early start. I arrived and the Mierce team came down en masse to give me a hand with the board. It wasn't too long before it was all set up and Jonathan Chester and I just had to go ahead and christen the board by having a demo game. http://i1230....

Cheers Skull King, let's hope, just two weeks to go now. This week has been very productive, I've managed to finalise the pediment design and get some paint on the temple. Re: Bishmeister's Darklands Hobby Blog

There was a day of perfect weather for spraying so I just had to go ahead and get some paint on the model. I started with a grey primer which would be the colour of the board's sides and the base colour for the rocky outcrops. I then airbrushed some shading in the recesses using a darker grey. http:...

Re: Bishmeister's Darklands Hobby Blog

Thanks folks. The next part of the project was to work out how the temple would integrate with the hillside terrain. The temple is modular and is made up from two parts, the temple and the plinth it sits on. Whilst this is a lot of work to make it removable from the board this is necessary for trans...

Thanks for the kind words folks. I'm starting to get excited now as I've started to crack on with the Byzantii temple. Re: Pirate's Ysian Log (and other things)

Great intro to your hobby. The test model is looking great, I really like the natural tones you have used. One criticism I have for the paint scheme is that because the colour tones are very similar and subtle there is no focal point, an area that draws the eye in, which is often a spot colour that ...

Re: minis to practice on?

I agree with Zedmeister, get stuck in with some Mierce models. But, very importantly, you must thin those paints down, three thin coats is better than one thick. Also multiple coats will help with paint and hand control practice and once you het better you can repaint them without oblitera ing any d...
