Brythoniaid 999 list comments and criticims requested

So this is my first foray into the brythoniaid after previously playing nothing but Fomoraic. I'd be very grateful for any thoughts you all have: General - Uchelwr with bwa - 44 gold Uchelwr commands the following: bard - 31 gold 10 rhyfelwr, mainstay unit (free command to fulfill minimum ubiquity) ...

How do the charge, stomp and grab rules interact?

Sorry I'm back to ask another rather dim question I'm afraid. So I'm fairly happy that I've got a handle on how stomps work and how grabbing works (though I'm probably going to ask you to check that I have it right using examples) but I want to check how they interact with charging if I may? So firs...

Re: Brythoniaid Grand Alliance

I haven't had any experience using them yet but I'm not sure that dynwocor can tough it out as a mainline combat unit so I think you might be a little bit lacking in those but I could well be wrong and it'll be a lot of fun to play with either way. It might be worth trying to buddy up the shrieker u...

Which base size gives you the most bang for buck?

Question about tactics, unit selection and number crunching if I may? Generally speaking, as base size goes up, M+W and C+A go up but skill goes down. Has anyone (other than Rob - think he's probably done it once or twice) done much analysis/number crunching on cost of the various different base siz...

Re: Shooting at frenzied units

Thanks for taking a look Rob. The bearded weasel in me was rather hoping that was an easy way to upset frenzied units but the decent wargamer alter ego was telling me not to be silly.

Shooting at frenzied units

So I started off playing with fomoraic and I could just about handle the tactical complexity of 'pick up axe', 'bury axe in humans head' that was involved in dealing with my gabrax lists. Occasionally I'd spice it up with the occasional question about fear immunity and gul gabrox but basically every...

Re: Frozen opponents

So I did it right??!!!??
Err. Merr. Gerd.

Nice one. I rather like the frozen general still being effective as the titular head of the army personally - I'm glad you came down on that side of the argument for comedy value if nothing else.

Frozen opponents

I'm seeking to check that I got a couple of things right in a recent game with freeze damage weapons. The situation is thus: I'd used the iced weapons spell on a group of gabrax and I'd got lucky and was succesful with both dice. The gabrax then did rather a lot of damage to a unit that included fou...

Re: Multiple units involved in combat

Think I've come across this kind of situation a few times before when I've been playing and I think its almost as a hang over effect from playing warhammer. In GW games, close combats are usually treated as amorphous scrums where everyone involved gets to attack. This rules query has clarified the s...

Using the Tawrdraig

A polite inquiry to those of you who play brythoniad regularly. I'm starting to put my brythoniad together in an attempt to branch out from my fomoraic (to have something to paint thats not fur basically) kindred and I noticed that the tawrdraig is quite an impressive monster but it does appear to b...

999 gold Goaty list plus any love for the Mallox?

There hasn't been much action in the muster list/tactics discussion recently so I thought I'd post my most recently used 999 list for fomoraic to see what peoples thoughts were (comments and criticism most welcome) on the list and also use it as a chance to ask what peoples thoughts were on the use ...

Is there any part of the ysian range that appeals to you to ally into a vras force (or visa versa)?

Re: Kindred Musters Updated

In the fomoraic muster, we've now got rules for ograx untains/tains an ograx reiver untains/tains but the only troop section entry appears to be for ograx reivers. There is no troop section for plain old ograx. Oversight or are you thinking about doing something a bit different with them?

Re: Kindred Musters Updated

We're not allowed all of the nice things because we're bad smelly goat men with an overfondness for zapping our friends with freezy spells? Makes sense. Ah wells, thanks for the clarification.

Re: A couple of questions about fomoraic

Thanks Rob, that does indeed help. Not going to lie, I'm a bit sad panda that my toracx mount has one less attack die than he does without a gabrax sat on him but I'll just assume he puts that attack to good use biting the tain instead - a modelling/painting opportunity if ever there was one. Thanks...

Re: A couple of questions about fomoraic

Thanks for putting me right Jonathon. I'd missed that bit about non feral characters not joining feral units but it makes sense. Further rules reading needed by the sounds of things. Don't suppose you can enlighten me on the mixed unit/bound unit conundrum I've got in over how many gul-gabrox need t...

A couple of questions about fomoraic

Perhaps these should be in separate threads but I don't really want to spam the boards with loads of daft single question threads. So here I go. Question 1: Mounting a gabrax tain/untain on a toracx. A toracx by itself is feral and thus frenzied. Am I right in thinking that mounting the gabrax dude ...

Re: Kindred Musters Updated

Current authority of gabrax untains means that they can't be the general in a list with tarvax tains in. Just checking that that is as intended? Fomoraic spells of the ice - Ice Shards spell is described as a focus spell but has all the characteristics (range bandings) of a sight spell. Is it suppos...
