Postby Rob Lane » Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:15 pm

Everyone,
This page will list all of the official addenda for the Darklands: Second Edition rule book, version 2.04.

Each addendum will eventually be provided upon a PDF document that can be printed out, with each paragraph(s) having a separate entry so that they can be cut out and stuck in to the rule book.

Each quote below will add to the rules in the rule book.

Cheers

Valentin has come up with a gnarler...

BULK CHARGER

After the last paragraph:

Carriage Engines
The mass used to calculate the bulk attack dice of the draught animals of a carriage engine when they perform bulk impact strikes is that of those draught animals, not the war engine as a whole. Similarly, if the carriage engine also causes bulk impact strikes, its mass is used to calculate its bulk attack dice.

Thanks to Matt Lally and the Slaughter crowd...

QUELL

After the first paragraph:

If a unit is suffering more than one type of continuous effect when it performs a Quell action, its player may choose to perform QUELL TESTS in whatever order he wishes; effect damage and indiscriminate effects are suffered sequentially depending on the QUELL TEST order chosen and not simultaneously. A Quell action must be performed for every type of continuous effect on a unit before moving on to another unit.

Rider shenanigans from the weekend...

Page 61:

After 2·5·3·4: Rider Death:

2·5·3·5
RIDER INCAPACITATION

The rider of a mount becoming incapacitated in some manner - any of unsighted, prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile - leads to some drastic consequences for both!

2·5·3·5·1
BEAST MOUNTS
In all circumstances, if the rider of a beast mount becomes prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile, so does the mount.

2·5·3·5·2
ARDENT MOUNTS
Ardent mounts are treated separately to the rider should the rider become incapacitated. A rider can become unsighted, prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile separately to his ardent mount, and if his ardent mount does not suffer the same incapacitation it will continue the battle as normal in the same way as if the rider were dead, except that when the rider Rises, Wakes or Disentangles or somehow becomes mobile again the control of the mounted warrior reverts to the rider.

If a rider becomes prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile and his ardent mount does not suffer the same incapacitation, he will immediately fall off his mount in the same way as if the mount were dead. This could be disastrous for him, but should he survive he becomes a unit on his own (as does the mount) but he may Mount his steed again if he Moves into base contact with it, assuming he can catch it, becoming a mounted warrior once more.

If a rider becomes unsighted while riding an ardent mount, he clings on to his mount as best he can and remains in control of it.

and, similarly

Page 63:

Before 2·6·1·2·2: Carriage Draught Animals:

2·6·1·2·2
CREW INCAPACITATION

The crew of a carriage engine becoming incapacitated in some manner - any of prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile - leads to some drastic consequences for an engine warrior.

Beast Draught Animals
In all circumstances, if the crew of a carriage engine that has beast draught animals becomes prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile, so does the engine and its draught animals.

Ardent Draught Animals
In all circumstances, if all of the crew of a carriage engine become prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile, so does the driver (unless the driver is itself an ardent draught animal), but ardent draught animals are treated separately to the crew should the crew become incapacitated.

Crew can become prone, unconscious, entangled or immobile separately to their ardent draught animals, and if their ardent draught animals do not suffer the same or a different incapacitation - and if the driver is not incapacitated - they will continue the battle as normal. If the driver is incapacitated, it will continue the battle in the same way as if the crew were dead, except that when the crew and driver Rise, Wake or Disentangle or somehow become mobile again the control of the carriage engine reverts to the driver.

If all of the crew become unconscious, entangled or immobile and their ardent draught animals do not suffer the same incapacitation, they will immediately fall off the engine in the same way as if their draught animals were dead. This could be disastrous for the crew, but should thjey survive they become units on their own (as does the remainder of the engine) but the crew may Mount their engine again if they Move into base contact with it, assuming they can catch it, becoming an engine warrior once more.

Mount shenanigans from the weekend...

Page 61:

After 2·5·3·4: Rider Death:

2·5·3·7
MOUNT INCAPACITATION

Mounts may also become incapacitated in some way, and again, this can be dangerous for both rider and mount.

2·5·3·7·1
BEAST MOUNTS
A beast mount cannot become incapacitated separately from its rider in any way. Whatever occurs to a rider occurs to his beast mount, and vice versa!

2·5·3·7·2
ARDENT MOUNTS
As ardent mounts are treated separately to their riders, they can become incapacitated while their riders are not.

If an ardent mount becomes prone, so does its rider, who immediately Falls off in the same way as if his mount dies. If an ardent mount becomes unconscious and its rider does not, the rider remains conscious but Falls off.

If an ardent mount becomes entangled and its rider does not, the rider remains in control of his mount but cannot Move as a mounted warrior until the mount Disentangles, although he may Dismount from it. If an ardent mount becomes immobile and its rider does not, the rider may Dismount and continue the battle on foot should he wish to.

2·5·3·8
MOUNTING AND DISMOUNTING

Sometimes a rider can Fall off his mount or Dismount from it somehow, which means that he could Mount it again in the future.

2·5·3·8·1
DISMOUNTING
A rider cannot Dismount voluntarily from his mount under any circumstances unless that mount is immobile or entangled, but riders can be Dismounted involuntarily through other means. Regardless of how the Dismount occurred, if the dismounted rider is a noble he may continue the battle as a separate unit from his mount and may even Mount it again in a future activation, if it is still alive and not incapacitated.

Dismounted riders that are not nobles may continue the battle on foot if their mounts are dead, and must compulsorily Leave other members of their unit that are still mounted to form a new unit. Dismounted riders from the same unit must Bind together to form a unit where possible, and if they are of the same profile.

If the mounts of dismounted riders that are not nobles are only incapacitated, however, the dismounted riders must remain within join distance of their mounts so that they can Mount them again.

A dismounted rider must be represented by an appropriate warrior on the battlefield; if a player does not have an appropriate miniature to do so the rider counts as being dead.

2·5·3·8·2
MOUNTING
Dismounted riders may Mount their ardent mounts as soon as they are in base contact with them, whether it is the noble's activation or the mount's; the two warriors simply become a mounted warrior again and the dismounted rider miniature is removed from the battlefield.

A dismounted rider that is a noble may only Mount his own mustered mount. Dismounted riders that are not nobles may only Mount ardent mounts from their own units and never from other units, even if they are of the same profile.

The call of Conand begets...

Page 84:

Inbetween 2·7·5·1·2: Acuity and 2·7·5·1·4: Effect Damage:

2·7·5·1·3
BLIND

A weapon that has the rule ‘blind’ - a blind weapon used by a Blinding warrior - may be used during the Disabling Strike step of the Attack Sequence (if it is a combat weapon).
If a Blinding warrior causes a fated hit (strike, shot, sight invoke) or fated damage with a blind weapon against an enemy warrior, and that enemy warrior does not have the ‘Unseeing’ trait, that warrior becomes unsighted until the end of its next activation or reactivation.

Cheers
