Darklands: Second Edition - Official Errata v2.04

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:15 pm

Everyone,
This page will list all of the official errata for the Darklands: Second Edition rule book, version 2.04.

Each of these erratum will eventually be provided upon a PDF document that can be printed out, with each offending paragraph(s) having a separate entry so that they can be cut out and stuck in to the rule book.

Each quote below will replace a particular paragraph in the rule book.

Cheers

I actually can't believe I'd missed this...

Page 158:
4·3·3
THE BUTCHER'S BILL

Third paragraph:

Additionally, players must add half the cost in silver (rounding fractions up) of every warrior from their host that has become a casualty...

...and...

Casualties

After the first sentence:

Engine warriors calculate their basic WOUNDS for this purpose as a whole and not individually. This means that the wounds of the crew (excepting any nobles), any draught animals and the engine itself are added together to form the engine warrior's basic WOUNDS. The basic WOUNDS of nobles are always calculated separately if it is the leader or crew of an engine warrior or is the rider of a mounted warrior for the purposes of the butcher's bill.

From the weekend's games...

Page 61:
2·5·3·5
MOUNT DEATH

The Falling off Hurts! subsection:

When an ardent mount dies the rider suffers D5 damage - and then another D5 damage per five points of mass of the ardent mount - to represent him falling from the mount, or possibly being crushed by it after he lands on the ground.

EXAMPLE
A tarvocx dies and his rider, a gabrax, falls off. The tarvocx is mass 8, so the gabrax suffers 2D5 damage - D5 and then another D5 for the five points of mass.

If the rider of an ardent mount falls off while it is Circling, Diving or Swooping, he falls, screaming, to his death (unless he himself is a flyer, which would be a bit odd, but possibly not as odd as some other very odd things).

Similarly

Page 61:

CARRIAGE DRAUGHT ANIMALS

The Falling off Hurts! subsection:

When all of the ardent draught animals of a carriage engine (that is not a chariot) die the crew suffer D5 damage - and then another D5 damage per five points of mass of the engine as a whole - to represent them falling from it, or possibly being crushed by the engine after they land on the ground.

EXAMPLE
An ettenwiht draught animal dies and its crew, five wihtboḡa, fall off. The ettenwiht war tower engine is mass 17, so the wihtboḡa suffers 4D5 damage - D5 and then 3D5 for the first fifteen points of mass of the engine.

More stuff from the weekend's games...

Page 35:
2·3·3·1·5
UNCONSCIOUS

An unconscious unit has been knocked out or stunned in some way. Unconscious warriors can only perform a Wake action when activated (see the 6·71: Wake action for details) and cannot perform any other action, nor any reactions, at all. Unconscious units are incapacitated and are also prone and immobile. While unconscious, all of a warrior's combat weapons, borne artefacts and borne armour elements are negated and an unconscious warrior's sight length is 0”. Construct and undead units can never become unconscious.

as well as

Page 39:
2·3·3·4·6
ENTANGLED

A warrior whose mobility is entangled cannot perform a Ground Move, Flight Move or Shift Move at all and are incapacitated. While entangled, all of a warrior's combat weapons, borne artefacts and borne armour elements are negated. Every entangled warrior within a unit can Disentangle and become mobile if that unit performs a Disentangle action and passes their DISENTANGLE TEST. Players must choose to Disentangle all entangled warriors within a unit. See the 6·70: Disentangle action for details.

2·3·3·4·7
IMMOBILE

A warrior whose mobility is immobile cannot perform a Ground Move, Flight Move or Shift Move at all and are incapacitated. An immobile warrior's sight length is 0” and all of his combat weapons, borne artefacts and borne armour elements are negated. Immobile warriors can never be engaged with enemy warriors, but can be engaged by enemy warriors, thus counting as blind beset.

Thanks to Bishmeister...

EFFECT DAMAGE

Fated Damage from a Damage Roll
If damage must be applied to a unit from a damage roll - for example, a player is instructed to apply D10 fire damage to a unit or D10 terrible damage from a fire damage weapon - the roll of a 9 would signify fated damage and a fire effect would be applied. Similarly, the roll of a 5 on a D5 cold damage roll would signify fated damage and a cold effect would be applied.
