Question on Activations

Rob,

Does a unit have to activate?

Specifically asking about Host Command units like Banner Bearers, Heralds, Bards..

These are units that really play little or no active part in the fighting and are usually mustered to make Tests more favourable and if they are activated will just do nothing.

I know the more activations you have the better...etc..

But do you have the choice of activating them or not..

Yes, all units must activate, otherwise the first hour will never end. You don't have to do anything with them; just say they've activated and scratched their balls or something...

4.2.3.2.2 states otherwise, an active unit must perform a voluntary action (if no compulsory one required). Addenda on "scratching balls action " much needed !
