Skirmish at Coffa Tree IV

Hi all,

I’m now in the early stages of organising the next Skirmish at Coffa Tree and would like to know what gold value people would like to play.

Whilst my main thought is 1500 gold but I also have a leaning to either 1750 or 2000 gold. So to that end I’d like to give the community a choice on this. So what would you all like to play?

In terms of time it’s always what did you spend the gold on. If players go for lots of 30-60mm units it cold slow down a bit but if it’s put into a 120mm monster it speeds up.

I am taking this onboard though.

I can easily do more but I'm fine with 1500 as well.

I've run a fairly infantry (30mm) heavy list a few times with my Albainn and Ysians and I found it was still fairly quick to play. Rules queries and odd situations that arise during the game do slow things down of course, but that will happen regardless of size.

Put me in the 1500 gold camp. It gives you a game with a reasonable amount of working parts/tactical depth while also giving you a game that you can get through in a decent time frame.

Unless you wanted to change the format slightly and do the event over two days perhaps and have x number of 1500 gold games on one day and x-2 (picking a number at random) number of 2000 gold games on a second day. Or complicate if further and do an escalation type thing. 6 games total. 3 1000 gold games, 2 1500 gold games and 1 2000 gold game. Overall prize, skirmish level prize, encounter level prize and battle level prize (this devising ways of getting Rob to give away more free stuff is fun aint it though ;-) )

I'd love to do a 2 dayer but sadly our venue is cost prohibitive for a full weekend for the number of gamers we could get.

There will be three new players attending this year, so make some room for us.. ;)

What about, not sure it's feasible, but a 3 or 4 way 1000 Gold Skirmish, last unit on the battlefield wins... might make things interesting... Kinda Battle Royale...lol

Yeah thought that might be the case. No worries then - a day full of 1500 games it is.

I posted this on Facebook and I am aware I people don’t use it so for the best sample:

Hello all. It’s that time of year I start planning Skirmish at Coffa Tree and I have been given an opportunity to possibly make it a two day event this year. I know subject to dates and a few other factors I’d have a few players from my club who’d attend but I’d like to know what the wider public would be willing to attend.
Dates are likely early July.

If we are talking Saturday and Sunday, that should be ok for us lot in the Rugeley club.

I'd be up for it, with the obvious caveat of it being dependent on the dates.

Count me in. I'd appreciate any recommendations for accommodation over the weekend.

Premier Inn - Coventry City Centre (Belgrade Plaza) hotel - 5 miles from Coffa Tree venue but in the heart of Coventry, £43.50 for a 1 night Saturday stay if booked in advance.

Plenty of places to eat and drink in the city too after a long day's gaming...

Thanks for catching that Brightblade for me and finding some good accommodations. I’m planning on getting this sent out in the New Year after I’ve visited Mierce HQ and kicked my mates arse to get the venue booked.

The house can accomodate 6 people, if 4 people are prepared to share a room each(1 Single & 1 Double bed), and that brings cost down to £33 pounds each.

Right guys I’m in the final stages of booking and it’s looking to be 13/14th July weekend for the event. I will get this confirmed tomorrow for the venue then will put an official event page up for people to be able to book with a full pack out ASAP afterwards.

I know some people will want to book accommodation in advance and Brightblade thank you for your searches I will be adding these to the pack.

Jon,

If it's that weekend I won't be able to attend, it's my son's 16th Birthday on the 15th, and I'll be spending the weekend with him...

Yes sadly couldn’t get the venue for a two day event but I’m booking it in this Tuesday for the previous venue to get it up and running. Pack will be out this week
