I noticed the hoplites' shield is called aspis in the musters, but shouldn't this be hoplon? I mean, the reason they are called hoplites in the first place is because they use hoplons.

Apologies to all ancient greeks for butchering the plural forms of hoplon.

Having read more into it, some seem to say that they never even called them hoplon as this is modern greek not ancient!

You learn something every day.
