So guys ive jumped on the latest kickstarter but im concerned that my painting wont do these minis justice. can anyone recommend any cheap, larger minis to practice on so I dont bugger up Mierce ones? or if not any substances to remove paint from the models so if I mess up I can start again?

thanks

To be honest chap, I'd say go raid the Mierce store and grab a few models and practice on those. Duguth are excellent 'average' dark age humans, Gabrax have that bestial look and are good practice for non-human models or an Ax-Drune for flesh practice. Don't feel intimidated by them, use them as an opportunity to try new techniques and methods. Paint them, leave them and use those finished models as a good way to see how you progress and improve. "I started with these and now look at my progress" is an excellent motivator and confidence builder. Dive in! Don't forget to post your results and questions on here. Even better, join my painting challenge thread for motivation!

I agree with Zedmeister, get stuck in with some Mierce models. But, very importantly, you must thin those paints down, three thin coats is better than one thick. Also multiple coats will help with paint and hand control practice and once you het better you can repaint them without oblitera ing any detail.

If I could give two golden nuggets of advice they would be clean off mould lines properly and thin those paints.

Good luck, post your endevours for constructive feedback

Reaper bones range can get you some large & relatively cheap figs. But they're a weird material, so completely different from mierce stuff.
