No access to an airbrush, so I''m looking at various rattle-cans to do the priming. After reading various stuff on various sites I am looking at this stuff to prime my metal mini's -

Being real new to the hobby I've made a few bum purchases over the last 8 weeks and would appreciate either an 'aye, that'll be right' or a 'nay lad, that'd be shite' kinda answer.

I've heard of this being good but again unsure if this is the exact primer. I tend to use Army Painter uniform grey as a primer currently.

I use it regularly and it works nice. Same for the halfords white matt primer. Best thing - look at the reviews - one bod mentions priming his resin models!

Ill keep an eye out for the the Army Painter primer Jonathon, but Halfords seem to have priming sorted, thanks. I have a big store very local so that's too handy! Wanting to have some for the Bank Holiday I bought the one I linked to and tried it out yesterday - fortunately it's really nice and doesn't seem to have shagged my models up. It dries fast - touch dry in a few moments, doesn't hide detail and adheres well.

Actually applying it soothly, so the paint doesn't dry before it hits the model, is obviously a learned art and one I'll be getting better at...

Good to know Halfords do another, as Zed pointed out and I'll be giving that one a blast too. Cheers for the heads-up mate.

I can second the Army Painter as being a great primer for any model type. I've primed in both high humidity and cold weather with zero problems. It's the only primer I'll use these days.

If money is tight Prodrive Auto Spray Paint: Grey Primer from poundland also works fine

but i'd always test a new can on an empty plastic pot/bottle as you get the odd can with a duff nozzle that gives you a grainy finsh (which works fine on terrain, but not on minis)

I use Halfords grey primer and it works a treat, good coverage, no issues
