Breff007's Finished Models

Postby beefknee » Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:41 pm

Finally got around to finishing Glaun. Really enjoyed painting him. First photo is fuzzy, still figuring out how to take proper photos of minis.

Let me know what you guys think of him.

Very Nice. His mouth looks nasty in a good way. If you survive his bite I bet you die later of a infection :).

I'd love to know the shades you used for your blue layers. It's absolutely stunning with the brown/white combination.

Here's all the Darklands models I've painted so far. Fantastic models to paint, love them all and have loads more to do. Probably my favorite range at the moment.

@ Razormage. The shading was done with a really dark blue with a touch of grey to desaturate it a bit. I think teh blue was the darkest shade in the Andrea Blue set. Some shadows had a bit of red glazed onto them to play around with warm/cold. I kinda play around with all the colors until they look right so sorry if it's a bit vague, but I definitely used very dark blue, some black glazes and some red glazes and probably some dark purple here and there in the deepest recesses

For the lighter flesh on the belly I used darkish flesh tones but also some of the dark blue grey, again very thin glazes. I think it kind of ties the whole thing together.

Absolutely stunning! That's probably my favorite Dyndraig I've seen so far! Love the natural colors.
The rest is awesome aswell ;)

Really impressive. I like your take on the Dyndraig, you've really brought them to life - care to expand on the colours you used?

Also, as said, your Ax-Drunes are fantastic.

I can't remember the exact colours but I'll dig out what I can remember when I get home. I generally have an idea of the end result and then play around with the colours as I go. I never really complete one area and move to the next, I often go back and tweet each area as I progress.

I knew I wanted him to be a muted green so started with a couple if washes of a medium olive colour, not too saturated. Highlights were with a light green/grey from Vallejo Model Air. Final highlights were ivory. Shading was with a deep sea blue and a touch of black in places. At the very end a couple of glazes of green ink to make it tie together. Originally I wanted the head and face to be brown to contrast, but it didn't work as well as I thought. I went with the green but blended some browns in the shadows and near the horns and scales on his neck. His neck was a dark red, I think burnt cadmium red. Highlighted with ivory, shaded with black and them a bunch on glazes of greens. I'll dig out the colours I can remember when I get home.
