My painted collection (Ysians, Khthones, Fomoraic and Infernii)

Hey everyone,
thought it couldn't hurt to show you my finished models.
It took me quite a long time 'til I dared to touch the Mierce models. My first order was with KS 1 and held Krull and Uuthüll (which is currently on my painting desk) beside a huge amount of Khthones.
In the end the decision to make playable hosts out of my rather random collection (apart from said Khthones) motivated me to begin painting.
Last week I decided that I'd just give it a go and shouldn't overthink the painting process. So I decided to paint batches of roughly 499 Gold and to do so by taking one day per host.
So the models that follow are rather speedpainted. You won't see the greatest art here, but a rather fast growing collection of miniatures in consistent colors
I hope you'll be able to enjoy this gallery despite the cell phone pics and the simple paintjobs...
If you're also interested in my work on other models, please feel free to visit my blog: http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/p/gall ... -case.htmlThe first host I tackled were the
Ysians, basically inspired by the profil of Druc ^^ My goal was a uniform look of skin, brown and leather-tones that gives them a realistic wasteland look. The host will be centered around the strange creations of the Flesh-Drunes.
The first batch consists of Hedroc, 4 Brutes and Druchttp://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/0 ... sians.htmlClose-Ups and my thought about the models can be found on my blog:

Angelcynn Currently one Duguth is missing to complete the 500 Gold.
The host consists of:
Commander - Penda (Thegn)
First werewulf - Waelwulf Thegn Creal
Core of the host - 5 Duguth (soon 6)
And the big bad Guthwulf - Creoda
Detailed pictures and insights on the painting progress can be found in my blog:
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/06/darklands-angelcynn.htmlEDIT '16: I sold the Anglecynn a while ago, so there won't be any progress on those. But you won't be disappointed by the "replacement" (see next post) - DD

Behold the might of Darklands' most fearsome kindred:
The InferniiThe demons are actually my latest host, but I hijacked this post, as the Anglecynn are no longer with me.
The host consists of:
Servile Lord of Dis, Servile Champion of Dis, 5 Craven Fiends of Dis, a Demiurion and a Magus Infernum, while Erebius on Behema just arrived (Feb '16)
I haven't yet written articles on all of those, but they'll come soon.

Here come the
FomoraicThe first batch is already including Uuthüll, who's probably my favorite Mierce miniature and made me read Lovecraft
The water took ages to do (as it takes ages to dry) and sadly doesn't look as convincing as I had wished.
Enough talk:
The first 500 Gold host of Fomoraic includes Kraan (Untain) and UuthüllAnd here's the link to the blog article on Uuthüll and Kraan:

So, as mentioned earlier I got Uuthüll currently on the table. He and Kraan as Untain are already finished, but the bases use a special water effect that needs to dry for AGES ^^
Funnily the Khthones which acually caused my awe for Mierce and thus are my biggest host are still untouched. But I finally managed to put a small force together that will be painted next. I also made a plan on how to enlarge their force in wise steps.
The Ysians will grow quite quickly to 999 and 1499 as well, while the Formoraic will only get over 999 when the Warriors of Baalor arrive. With the Angelcynn my plans are even slower, as their next step involves Werwulfas :-/
So further this thread goes during the summer the more it'll focus on Khthones (will be over 4000 Gold when KS 2 delivers).
Hopefully you like what you see and will drop by once in a while.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. (also for those on the KS comments)

First @ Larabic: Glad you like the head, was quite hard to find the right tone ^^
Second: As promised I have a new update for you on the Khthones.
Further up you can see a quick group shot of the finished models. For more clarity in the thread I'll now always post a group shot of my hosts and add a link to my blog, where you can find detailed pictures of the single models and also a short abstract about my thoughts and experiences with the models.
I hope you're ok with this and visit my blog every then and now.
So here's the first link to the article about the Khthones:

Excellent job, I am happy to see more painted khthones. I really love the way you did their eyes. I think I will try to copy that when I have the courage to paint them. Thanks for sharing

Wow! You've been a busy guy!
I think you could lay claim to a few firsts too - First painted Druc and Khysspyriss I have seen.....I think!
Looking good Sven - nice basing and colour scheme also - just what we like to see! It humbles us every time to see people painting our miniatures...........

Hey, thanks a lot for the comments. Glad that you enjoy the miniatures.
@ Tim: Ha! Never thought about it, but yes haven't seen those two before either (or Ssibyros neither). Damn, always wanted to be the first to show a painted Uuthüll, but there appeared a really awesome green one on the forum very early (with a great base)
Well, there're many other possibilities to come: Petroyos and Belech, who'll be very interesting to paint ^^ And of course all the KS 2 minis

Thanks a lot guys, glad you like him. I wasn't to hot for him when he came out of the bag, looked rather blunt, but now I really like him. I was surprised myself how nice the head had turned out... especially the tongue
Would you like to see Ygandr or Pertoyos next?

Hi,
I really like very much how you painted the Mazikilias!!!
Ygandr has maybe one step less in painting level but it is also quite beautiful. You have some mold lines on the necks, don't be lazy and remove them.
Hope to see more of your stuff soon.
Many thanks,
Mariano.

@ Andy: Thanks! I'm sure your hydra will be one sight to be seen.
@ Aniku: Haha, glad you like Mazikilias, I'm still unsure why he turned out so great. Actually his skin uses less coats and easier techniques than Ygandr. So he was easier to paint ^^
You're of course right about the lines (damn shouldn't have chosen that pic for the forum
) I wish those were regular mould lines, but those are these "steps" in the cast that are a pain to remove and they were nearly invisible... 'til the ink came
Won't rework them now, as that would mean to repaint the whole area. Just be assured that they look less prominent in real life
Next up: Petroyos, Ophios or Torku? First vote decides ^^

As you wish
Today I have a lot of new pictures for you. Some are for final presentation, some are rather teasers for upcoming articles.
Have a look and tell me what you think.
First up, as requested by grefven:
Ophios, Gorgon of KhthonArticle on him:
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/0 ... -sven.htmlNext are several
YsiansGulguta, Kill-Brute: My final brute. As you see I've swapped the head, as I just didn't like the small head it comes with.
A full unit of 10
Ax-Drunes. I really like how the flesh-mantles turned out... sorry for the blurry first picture
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/0 ... -sven.htmlA "nice" one inbetween and my personal gaming nemesis:
Torku, Bone-Abberant (the bunch of boobs is modular and is shown in the full article
)
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/0 ... -sven.htmlLast but not least:
Carrowek mounted and on foot
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2014/0 ... hu-by.htmlAnd the final highlight:
The FomoraicSome might have seen his base on th KS-comments already, but here's the final beast:
Kaairioc-Cro, the Sea-Devil (Seems like a rather bad choice in the game BTW
)
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2015/0 ... devil.htmlAnd here he is! one of my absolute favorites:
Belech, Son and Scion of Baalorhttp://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2015/0 ... ch-by.htmlBest Sven

staggerlee wrote:Very nice paint job! Wish I had the mojo to finishing my pile of resin. Keep them coming, it is very inspiring!
Yeah, the mojo is always the problem. I had great success with audio books, as I allow myself only to listen while I'm painting
So here's the next batch:
SEZA "Beautiful" sculpt, was a real pleasure to paint and even the assembly was surprisingly easy. I like how the blades turned out.
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2015/0 ... death.htmlIDRUAADANow I really dig this guy. The model just as much as his perfomance in my last game. He unleashed an incredible icy barrage and out of nothing won the game.
His armour is nice as well
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2016/0 ... da-by.htmlTHOTHMy first digital sculpted snake! The quality is insane, but the difference in sculpting technique is quite easy to spot next to the traditional snakes.
http://sendtheeighth.blogspot.de/2015/0 ... -anax.htmlSTHENASome might have already seen her on the KS3 comments. Her scale pattern is inspired by one of my real snakes. The "Venom Plate" of course had to be green

Pic after pic your painting skills are growing up.
I really lime the snake woman!!
You need to improve the way you paint the eyes of the miniatures but I know is difficult with small ayes.
Keep painting!
Many thanks,
Mariano.

Alright, with the forum back up and running I took the time to fix all the broken links and pics in this thread and while I was on it added my Infernii to the mix.
I think it looks alright now, but I realized just how many articles I have to write and pictures to take until this is up to date. So there's much more to come here and on the blog.

I really like it. I honestly think ice is one of the most difficult things to make look good at miniature scale (I've never managed to get it right, myself), but the way you've done it, with your choice of base and 'upper' colours and just the right amount of white are spot-on. Good job!
