Darklands: Mighty Monsters - Fulfilment

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Apr 28, 2017 12:59 pm

DARKLANDS: MIGHTY MONSTERS
FULFILMENT

Waves are gone...
We've decided to remove the "Wave" system, for the simple reason that we just try to get stuff out when we can; it's confusing for us, let alone you guys, so we're just going to give you months instead of waves.

Regardless, we will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Metals will ship at separate times
The metal versions of miniatures (if there are any) will ship at least one wave later than the resin versions; it takes a while to get them ready to be cast in metal.

Now that we're used to working with the external casters we can give you a little idea of what goes on. Usually, it takes at least a month to get the master metal moulds from sending the miniatures to them; and then we must check these masters for errors and then either amend or okay them. Then they go into production, which takes another month.

Whilst we are using metal casters that are second to none in terms of quality, they are so busy it can take a while to get miniatures from them!

What Ships When
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be produced when. Note that this is a production date, not a shipment date - your orders will be shipped at some point during the production month but this could shift into the next few months as we are so busy.

SHIPMENT WAVE 0 (complete): Existing miniatures
SHIPMENT WAVE 15 (February 2017): Maatmäg
SHIPMENT WAVE 18 (August 2017): Crémharunc - Ammon - Great Axe Krull - Choloch - Great Axe Malacant - Trolls of Gunnheim (Great Axe Vörtun - Gjöll - Unnolg - Gando - Valdr - Jöllund)
SHIPMENT WAVE 19 (October 2017): Gahwn
SHIPMENT WAVE 20 (February 2018): Howling Cnebba - Murderous Cúlaítar - Scecchus, Cowering Fiend of Dis - Tórlákr
SHIPMENT WAVE 21 (April 2018): Beasts of Machairá Peat (Gainn - Arroch - Bréana - Tirimaon - Donnach)
SHIPMENT WAVE 22 (June 2018): Thuulac - Encrusted Thuulac - Scuttling Nucránca (Uulo - Pruul - Gonuu)

    JULY 2020: Selkilias
SEPTEMBER 2020: Athena - Athena Delta - Kretos Beta

    JUNE 2022: Spite of Ýdron

Items in green will DEFINITELY be produced in that month as we have them in hand.
Items in yellow italics have been received from the sculptor or printer but not yet moulded. They should be produced in that month, but it's possible they will slip into the next month.
Items in italics are in progress and should be produced in that month, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that month, but may not.

    Purchasing Deadlines
There's still time to purchase everything from this project...

      Wave 18 Miniatures: October 9th 2017
      Wave 19 Miniatures: November 6th 2017
      Wave 20 Miniatures: February 19th 2018
      Wave 21 Miniatures: April 23rd 2018
      Wave 22 Miniatures: July 2nd 2018
      Wave 26 Miniatures: April 29th 2019
The Rest: we've ended late pledges (except under certain circumstances) and added everything to the main webstore as Kickstarter items.

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

    Sculpts and Sculptors
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: New Kindreds! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

We've split the lists into completely new sculpts and alterations to make life easier for us all!

    New Sculpts:
BOB PŁOCIENNIK: Bob will be doing the Hydrar Unit from this project.

Not many sculpts to go now!

    Completed Sculpts
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in green; in progress sculpts are in yellow italics.

    New Sculpts and Alterations:

TROLLS OF GUNNHEIM, GREAT AXE TROLL UNIT
The Trolls of Gunnheim are the Great Axe Trolls, of course, and there's only one guy we wanted to sculpt them: Allan Carrasco...

Gando, Great Axe Troll Warrior
A merry chap, is Gando... unless you steal his curly wurlies. Then he'll take a great axe to your head!

Image
Image
Image

He'll be a Wave 17 shipment, we shouldn't wonder...

Valdr, Great Axe Troll Warrior
Another happy fella, is Valdr. Just don't mess with his wife.

Image
Image

He'll be a Wave 17 shipment... so we reckon that's the two units of Trolls done for June! Huzzah!

AMMON, SERVILE LIEGE OF DIS
Ammon is of course Krull sans wings, but as we're not changing the body (just the arms, and adding plugs for where the wings go) you can take this as a Great Axe Krull update, too.

Anyway, check out Tim Prow's work so far. Don't worry, the haft will be much thicker!

Image

He should be a Wave 18 shipment!

CHOLOCH, SERVILE WARRIOR OF DIS
Similarly to Ammon, Choloch is Malacant sans wings, and so Bent... I mean, Great Axe Malacant gains a leap forward with this update. Tim Prow again...

Image

He'll be a Wave 18 shipment, hopefully...

TROLLS OF GUNNHEIM, GREAT AXE TROLL UNIT
Allan Carrasco could probably sculpt Trolls in his sleep, but that doesn't mean they're in any way bad... quite the opposite!

Gando, Great Axe Troll Warrior
The happy-go-lucky Gando tends to instigate any kind of beer pong at parties, he's such a good laugh.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Tables don't last long with him around, I can tell you...

Valdr, Great Axe Troll Warrior
Valdr Valdr is quite the opposite of Galdo as he's always found in the kitchen at parties, trying but failing to engage the opposite sex in conversation. Or indeed make eye contact with them. He probably wears a tank top.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

These guys - and thus the Trolls of Gunnheim as a whole - should be a Wave 18 shipment!

Just the two (well, four in reality) miniatures this week for the Infernii. All conversions!

AMMON, SERVILE LIEGE OF DIS
Ammon is just Krull without wings in many respects, but what's good for Ammon is also good for Krull, and vice versa - Krull gets a great weapon option, and Ammon can have Krull's weapons too!

Image

Here's the wing "nubs" which will simply insert into Krull's body to make him wingless...

Image

He should be a Wave 18 shipment.

CHOLOCH, SERVILE WARRIOR OF DIS
The same goes for Choloch / Malacant, of course... we've not changed the body, so the weapons and so forth are interchangeable...

He should be a Wave 18 shipment!

Kretos Beta

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jun 30, 2017 1:28 pm

Just the one miniature... well, bigiature - to show this week, and it's for the Atalantes...

KRETOS BETA, OGROS OF BRONZE
The lovely Kretos, who is nothing if not a beast of war, gains a double-handed mace instead of two maces - becoming Kretos Beta in the process. Prepare to have your blocks knocked off, monsters of Darklands...

Image

We are very much hoping he'll be a Wave 18 shipment!

Beweaponed Wyvern

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jul 28, 2017 3:10 pm

Just the one monster this week, but it's a superb conversion of an existing one for the Brythoniaid...

GAHWN, CAWRGWYFERN OF ELENYDD
We love Martin Lavat's monster work, and Gahwn is a perfect example of what he can do - and possibly our favourite one he's done so far!

A conversion of Typhaggahw, the superb Gwyfern from yonks ago (but still awesome), Gahwn has ditched his wings and grown some arms to become a Cawrgwyfern, an Ogre-Wyvern if you will...

Image

He should be a Wave 19 shipment!

Three Monstrosities

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Oct 13, 2017 1:25 pm

Three different monsters, for three different kindreds (Brythoniaid, Érainn and Infernii), by two different sculptors, this week...

GAHWN, CAWRGWYFERN OF ELENYDD
The lovely Gahwn, that alternate monster of Typhaggahw, is now complete, thanks to Martin Lavat. Doesn't he look awesome?

Image
Image
Image

He will be a Wave 20 shipment...

MURDEROUS CÚLAÍTAR, BEAST OF LAGÁIN FOREST
I wouldn't like to meet Murderous Cúlaítar during the day, let alone at night, especially if he had murder in his eyes with them two great stone clubs! Converted by Tim Prow.

Image
Image
Image
Image

He's not quite done yet, but he should be a Wave 20 shipment...

COWERING SCECCHUS, SERVILE FIEND OF DIS
It's Infernii time, kids! Here's Cowering Scecchus, converted by Tim Prow...

Image
Image

Again, he should be a Wave 20 shipment!

More Monstrous Beings

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Oct 27, 2017 2:32 pm

We've two updates from Tim Prow this week, finishing off those shown from last time...

MURDEROUS CÚLAÍTAR, BEAST OF LAGÁIN FOREST
We saw Murderous Cúlaítar last time, of course, but he needed a little work on his crosses and now Tim's sorted that, you can put a fork in him!

Image
Image

Here's what he looks like with his murdering sticks (from last week)...

Image

He will be a Wave 20 shipment!

COWERING SCECCHUS, SERVILE FIEND OF DIS
Tim just needed to add details to Cowering Scecchus' shield hand and so he has, to be sure...

Image
Image

Again, he should be a Wave 20 shipment!

Grim Troll

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Nov 10, 2017 11:04 am

Just the one miniature for the monsters that are mighty this week, sculpted by Martin Lavat for the Norse...

TÓRLÁKR, GRIMTROLL
The awesomeness of Tórlákr, a Grimtroll of the Norse, is down to four people - Christophe Madura and Dan Cockersell, who drew and sculpted Blood-Maw; and Dan Warren and Martin Lavat, who drew and converted him to become Tórlákr.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Martin's done an amazing job matching Dan's skin textures!

Image

We are very much hoping he will be a Wave 20 shipment!

Howling Wolf

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Nov 23, 2017 4:27 pm

Again just the one miniature - for the Anglecynn - and from Martin Lavat...

HOWLING CNEBBA, MÆGENWULF
The lovely Howling Cnebba is, er, a version of Cnebba that's howling. Maybe it's teatime and he's telling his mates his mum told him he had to be in for six, and that he'll be out to play tomorrow.

Image
Image
Image

We're very much hoping he'll make it in for tea. Or indeed, Wave 20...

Beast of the Peat

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:29 pm

Just the one miniature from Allan so far, for the Érainn although he's begun work on the other three from its unit...

BEASTS OF MACHAIRÁ PEAT, PEAT BEAST UNIT
The Beasts of Machairá Peat have taken their sweet time to be done, but Allan's cracking on and I shouldn't wonder if they're done by the next update...

Image

Bréana, Peat Beast Warrior
The Peat Beast known as Bréana is looking... erm... beautiful? thanks to Allan's work...

Image
Image

We're hoping the unit will be ready for Wave 21 for sure...

Peaty Blinders

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Feb 08, 2018 3:29 pm

Three more miniatures to show this week, and all for the Érainn. Who'd a thunk it?

BEASTS OF MACHAIRÁ PEAT, PEAT BEAST UNIT
The Beasts of Machairá Peat are now done and dusted, for which we must be thankful to Mighty Allan Carrasco, a legend amongst sculptors if ever there was one.

Gainn, Olden Peat Beast
As this is the end of the unit, we thought we'd show you those that have gone before, too. The champion of the unit (and finished yonks ago), Gainn is a lovely-looking fella...

Image

...even in green.

Arroch, Peat Beast Warrior
Arroch is just a warrior from the unit...

Image
Image

...but he's still pretty peaty! Not as peaty as Adam Peaty, the swimmer, but still.

Bréana, Peat Beast Warrior
Bréana was done for the last update, but here's a reprise anyway...

Image
Image

...and he's not as peaty as Adam Peaty, either.

Tirimaon, Peat Beast Warrior
Now Tirimaon, he was going to be called Peaty McPeatface...

Image
Image

...but that would make him peatier than Adam Peaty, which is impossible.

Donnach, Peat Beast Warrior
Enough of such nonsense. Donnach is a mighty Peat Beast warrior, as likely to eat you as drink you. What do they know of peat, whom only peat know?

Image
Image

The unit should be a Wave 21 shipment! Huzzah!

Armoured Oghurithne

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jun 08, 2018 2:35 pm

A whole unit of lovely monstrous infantry fellas to show you this week, and all for the Albainn!

OGHU WATCHERS, SHIELDWALL OGHURITHNE UNIT
The Oghu Keepers, originally sculpted by Yannick Fusier, have had a nice little makeover into a Shieldwall unit - thanks to Tim Prow's ministrations. These guys will make excellent anvils in your Albainn host!

Gubad, Shieldwall Oghurithne Rud
Gubad is the shieldwall version of the original Oghurithne champion, Brugbad.

Image
Image
Image
Image

...he was once known as Brugbad the Dolt in some quarters...

Dungad, Shieldwall Oghurithne Nund
The banner bearer of the Oghu Watchers is Dungad...

Image
Image

...as converted from the original banner bearer, Dungabad...

Lobo, Shieldwall Oghurithne Bol
The herald of the Oghu Watchers is Lobo...

Image

...not related to DC's awesome comics character, sadly.

Bogo, Shieldwall Oghurithne Warrior
A conversion of Bogad, is Bogo...

Image
Image

...don't add an f on the end. You don't get two of him for one of him.

Rubad, Shieldwall Oghurithne Warrior
Rubad comes from Rubeg...

Image
Image

...he's gained a lovely shield and a bit of armour!

Dungada, Shieldwall Oghurithne Warrior
The alternate of the banner bearer, is Dungada...

Image
Image

...just got to sort the straps and he's good to go...

Lobog, Shieldwall Oghurithne Warrior
Lobog is the alternate of the herald, of course.

Image
Image

These guys should be a Wave 23 shipment!

Next up for Tim are the Cowering Fiends of Dis!

Just the one miniature to show you today, for the Jutes, but what a miniature it is... coming to a tabletop near you soon to both dominate and terrify, here's the utterly brilliant

SCETHÆN, CRAG BEETLE
Sculpted of course by Bob Płociennik from the artwork by Danny Cruz, Scethæn is a mighty crag beetle of the Jutes. Standing on a 120mm base, this thing will be massive and awesome!

Major Skorpion

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:10 am

There's only one miniature to show this week, but what a bloody miniature it is. Take a seat, Byzantii fans...

SELKILIAS, SKORPION OF ACHAEA
What a miniature Selkilias is going to be. It's bloody amazing. And all thanks to Bob Płociennik, the sculptor, and Danny Cruz, the artist.

Here is the bloody big beast - that's a 120mm base! We do believe that Selkilias will be the biggest scorpion miniature out there - we've had a look around and we can't see anything bigger. I would purchase it now, before we change its price... because it's bound to be more than £80 at RRP!

Image

He should be a Wave 24 shipment!

Next for Bob is the awesome giant tortoise turtle thing, Schyrós, for the Khthones... rumours of Sávrar riding on its back on a giant howdah complete with some kind of greek fire lobbing heath robinson type machine are completely true.

Flame Born

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Mar 01, 2019 12:09 pm

Quite a few miniatures to show this week, and all for the Brythoniaid. That's the Welsh, to you and me! I'm even going to give you a pronunciation guide (using Wikipedia's Pronunciation Respelling Key)!

FLAMEBORN OF GWAELOD, SHIELDWALL DYNDRAIG UNIT
These hereFlameborn of Gwaelod are, of course, conversions by Tim Prow of the original Dyndraig, some of our oldest miniatures, sculpted by Roberto Chaudon back in the day.

Dyndraig should be pronounced DUN-drayg!

Torgalhwch, Shieldwall Pendyndraig of Gwaelod
The champion of the unit is Torgalhwch (tor-GAL-hukh)...

Image
Image

...not much has changed on him as he already had a helmet and his left arm wasn't holding his weapon, oo-er...

Naegann, Shieldwall Tândyndraig of Gwaelod
The banner bearer of the unit is Naegann (NY-gan), but he's not done yet...

Gwydd, Shieldwall Dyndraig of Gwaelod
The first warrior is Gwydd (GWIDH)...

Image
Image

...some fairly big changes on this guy, but Tim's handled it!

Clundoc, Shieldwall Dyndraig of Gwaelod
The second warrior is Clundoc (KLIN-dok)...

Image
Image

...the shield design is brilliant!

Amabyon, Shieldwall Dyndraig of Gwaelod
The third warrior is Amabyon (a-MAB-yon)...

Image

...just the one shot for him.

Naegwg, Shieldwall Dyndraig of Gwaelod
The last warrior, basically the warrior version of the banner bearer, is Naegwg (NY-gug)...

Image

Tim's still got a bit of work to do - the shield on the back of Naegann - and we've had to cast the shield for him and send it back; so there'll be a little while before we get these, and possibly another update for them here.

So, these guys will probably be a Wave 27 (June) shipment simply because we're not sure if we're going to get time to mould them in time for April...

Beshielded Mandragons

Postby Rob Lane » Tue Mar 19, 2019 11:23 am

Some... miniatures to show for the Brythoniaid again...

FLAMEBORN OF GWAELOD, SHIELDWALL DYNDRAIG UNIT
Tim Prow's been finishing off the Flameborn of Gwaelod this week and they're all done, but Tim's only given me a picture of some shields. So they'll have to suffice...

Image

They're all slightly different, you'll note...

Naegann, Shieldwall Tândyndraig of Gwaelod
Naegann hasn't changed much from Naegannwg - has just has a shield to go on his back...

Image

So, these guys will probably be a Wave 27 (June) shipment simply because we're not sure if we're going to get time to mould them in time for April.

What's Next?
With the Flameborn of Gwaelod done, that leaves the Cowering Fiends of Dis - which Tim Prow will do - and the Spite of Ýdron and Marzaon, both of which will be sorted out by Bob Płociennik. So this project is almost done in terms of sculpts!

Armoured Demons

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jun 03, 2019 10:59 am

There's five lovely new miniatures to show this week, for the Infernii!

COWERING FIENDS OF DIS, SHIELDWALL FIEND UNIT
Tim Prow's been working hard on the Cowering Fiends of Dis recently, and whilst they're not quite done yet, they're almost there...

Kaio, Obeisant Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
As always, we start with the champion of the unit, who is called Kaio...

Image
Image
Image

...missing his lower jaw in this shot (no need to send one to Tim)...

Rubal, Menial Shieldwall Signifer of Dis
Rubalis the banner bearer of these guys, but he's not yet done -

Image

- see above for how he will look...

Acchus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
A warrior of the unit, Acchus is minus his bottom half here...

Image
Image

...and his lower jaw!

Kholko, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Kholko is another member of the unit without his bottom half...

Image
Image

...he's looking good though!

Lucus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Lucus has his bottom jaw, but his bottom half seems to be some insulating tape.

Image
Image
Image

How bizarre.

Ubus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Ubus is the alternate of the banner bearer, and you can see how Rubal will look in terms of his head and body too.

Image
Image

So these guys are not yet finished; the shield straps need doing, as does the differences in those shields - damage, wear and tear and so on. But they're almost there, so we're expecting these guys to be an August shipment...

What's Next?

With the Flameborn of Gwaelod and the Cowering Fiends of Dis done, that leaves just the Spite of Ýdron and Marzaon from this project - and both will be done by Bob Płociennik. So this project is almost done in terms of sculpts!

Fiends with Shields

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:23 pm

There's five/six miniatures to show this week, for the Infernii!

Rubal, Menial Shieldwall Signifer of Dis

- you'll just have to imagine the configuration of shield on back and weapon in right hand, banner in left hand (like the non-armoured version, Drubal).

Acchus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
A warrior of the unit, Acchus is minus his bottom half here...

...and his lower jaw!

Kholko, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Kholko is another member of the unit without his bottom half...

...he's looking good though!

Lucus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Lucus is not a number, he is a free Fiend.

He's spiky, too!

Ubus, Lowly Shieldwall Fiend of Dis
Ubus is the alternate of the banner bearer.

So these guys are finished now, and should be an October shipment... but we will see.

What's Next?

With the Flameborn of Gwaelod and the Cowering Fiends of Dis done, that leaves just the Spite of Ýdron and Marzaon from this project - and both will be done by Bob Płociennik. So this project is almost done in terms of sculpts!

Marzaon the Mentalist

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 2:44 pm

Well now, it's been a very long time since the last update for Darklands: Mighty Monsters, mainly because it's taken us ages to get the last monster sculpted...

MARZAON, UTHARD'S CHIMERA
So a long time ago, when we were all relatively free of government tyranny, there was a chimera called Marzaon. His birth has been a difficult one, fellow Miercenaries, but he is finally here thanks to the ministrations of the wonderful Rafael Dioli...

The observant amongst you will realise he is based on Garth's mantichora, Lazherkazh, which Rafael sculpted a couple of years ago. The body is completely different, of course, thanks to having three spines, but the pose and wings and tail are very much the same.

He will begin production in May of this year, so watch out for him - and pre-order him right here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... bs_911_000

What's Next
It's just the Spite of Ýdron, Hydar Unit for this project, and they will be done by Bob Plociennik, of course...!
