Darklands: Starter Hosts II - Fulfilment

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Nov 09, 2018 3:37 pm

DARKLANDS: STARTER HOSTS II
FULFILMENT

Sculpted Miniatures Have Release Dates
For many reasons, not least transparency, we've decided that already sculpted miniatures will get actual production dates: that way we can work towards them, keep you informed on the webstore itself and remove some of the confusion.

Metals too!
We have now begun casting metal miniatures in-house but there will be delays because we need to get them moulded, which is still done by an external company. Again, we have a schedule for this, and firm dates as to when we believe production will begin - and that is the same time as the resins. For older stuff, where resins have been released for ages, they too have firm production dates. Read on!

What Ships When
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be produced when. Note that this is a production date, not a shipment date - your orders will be shipped at some point during the production month but this could shift into the next few months as we are so busy.

Resin Miniatures:
SHIPMENT WAVE 0 (complete): Existing miniatures
    SHIPMENT WAVE 25 (February 2019): Hrōr - Hunter Hrōr - Eoric's Pack
MAY 2021: Falchion-Annik on Foot and on Horse - Sickle-Annik on Foot and on Horse - Bow-Annik on Foot and on Horse
JUNE 2021: Fanaberend Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart - Warrior Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart - Hunter Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart
JUNE 2022: Wulfric's Pack - Cynemon on Foot and on Horse
OCTOBER 2022: Shieldwall Birna on Foot and on Horse - Hunter Birna on Foot and on Horse - Ravener Birna on Foot and on Horse

Items in green will DEFINITELY be produced in that month as we have them in hand.
Items in yellow italics have been received from the sculptor or printer but not yet moulded. They should be produced in that month, but it's possible they will slip into the next month.
Items in italics are in progress and should be produced in that month, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that month, but may not.

Metal Miniatures:
MAY 2021: Falchion-Annik on Foot and on Horse - Sickle-Annik on Foot and on Horse - Bow-Annik on Foot and on Horse
JUNE 2021: Hrōr, Werwulf Thegn - Hunter Hrōr, Werwulf Thegn - Eoric's Pack, Werwulf Unit - Fanaberend Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart - Warrior Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart - Hunter Leofwen on Foot and on Great Hart

Items in green italics have been sent to the metal casters but have only been produced in sample form.
Items in yellow italics are in mould-making progress (as we have all of the miniatures required) and should begin production in that month, but we don't yet have the first samples.
items in italics are in progress and should begin production in that month, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that month, but may not.

Purchasing Deadlines
There's still time to purchase everything from this project...

    Wave 0 Miniatures: complete!
    Wave 25 Miniatures: February 18th 2019
The Rest: we've ended late pledges (except under certain circumstances) and added everything to the main webstore as Kickstarter items.

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

Sculpts and Sculptors
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: Savage Hordes IV! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

New Sculpts and Alterations:
RAFAEL DIOLI: Another new sculptor to our range, Rafael has completed all three variants of Annik on foot and on horse. That concludes his work for us on this project!
JAMIE PHIPPS: Jamie has completed all three variants of Leofwen and that's him for this project!
BOB PŁOCIENNIK: Bob has completed the new versions of Cynemon but has yet to finish off Wulfric's Pack.

Getting there!

Update the First!

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Nov 09, 2018 4:59 pm

We've a fair few miniatures to show you to be honest, all for the Anglecynn. So let's get started! We've shown these elsewhere of course but it's only right it's reproduced here.

HRŌR, WERWULF THEGN
The lovely Hrōr has been resculpted even lovelier than before thanks to Bob Płociennik's attentions. Just like the others, he comes with sword and shield or spear and shield!

Image
Image

Here's the spear-armed version...

Image

He will be a Wave 25 (February) shipment.

HUNTER HRŌR, WERWULF THEGN
Hunter Hrōr is the bow-armed version of Hrōr, and how lovely he is indeed...

Image

Again, he'll be a Wave 25 shipment.

EORIC'S PACK, WERWULF UNIT
The fantastic resculpted Eoric's Pack is, when all's said and done, utterly fantabulous. And that's swearing!

Image

Again, these guys will come with sword or spear options so you can decide which one you want to use rather than having to purchase them separately. You can even choose to have the shield or not have the shield - so there's four different permutations!

Eoric, Frēawerwulf
The champion, Eoric, is a nutter.

Image
Image

He's a great werwulf!

Sigebald, Monewerwulf
Sigebald is the unit's banner bearer, a Monewerwulf...

Image
Image

...literally a mane-wulf...

Heoruvard, Thēotenwerwulf
The herald is Heoruvard bless him...

Image
Image

...he howls!

Rædwulf, Werwulf Warrior
A warrior, Rædwulf is a warrior...

Image
Image

...his fur is russet red!

Wealdhere, Werwulf Warrior
The awesome Wealdhere is a warrior of the unit...

Image
Image

...I've got nothing more to say about that.

Siweard, Werwulf Warrior
The alternate of the banner bearer is called Siweard...

Image
Image

They will be a Wave 25 shipment!

What's Next?

Bob will be sculpting Leofwen next... she may well be done in time to ship with these guys...!

Leofwen Lives!

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:07 pm

We've a fair few miniatures to show you to be honest, all for the Anglecynn. So let's get started! We've shown these elsewhere of course but it's only right it's reproduced here.

LEOFWEN, FANE-BEARER OF DĒRA
The lovely Leofwen was always a great concept but a so-so miniature, so we're very much looking forward to Jamie's version of her...

Image

It's very early days so it's doubtful if she'll be done for Wave 25, but Wave 26 is definitely a possibility...

What's Next?

Jamie will be carrying on with Leofwen of course, and we have some cracking news on the new Werwulfas: the warrior unit has been printed and the hunter unit is in the process of printing (currently 3 out of 5 done). Next will be Hror and Thurgis, so we are very hopeful of a Wave 25 (February) shipment for these guys - in resin, anyway! Metal versions will be done for Wave 26 (April), if not earlier, as we should be up and running ourselves with metals by then.

As well as that, Cynemon will be getting some treatment very soon indeed...

A Bit More of Leofwen

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Feb 14, 2019 2:00 pm

The Anglecynn have had some real love in this project, so be prepared to love this miniature in return...

LEOFWEN, FANE-BEARER OF DĒRA
Jamie Phipps has been cracking on with Leofwen and she's really taking shape now!

Image

Methinks Wave 26 will be her wave...

What's Next?

Jamie will be carrying on with Leofwen, and after her we'll get him to do Annik as he did such a good job on Seza. Bob will be doing Cynemon, Birna and the Wælwulfas at some point soon. I'm very hopeful of bringing this project to a close in the summer (in terms of miniatures sculpted, anyway).

Shieldwall Leofwen

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Mar 01, 2019 11:37 am

It's all Anglecynn at the moment! Just one miniature again...

LEOFWEN, FANE-BEARER OF DĒRA
So, now Leofwen is taking shape, we can reveal to you the next step in Jamie Phipps' journey to give the deer-people a warchief...

Image
Image
Image
Image

There's still a few things to do - a dagger on her leg and a scabbard, a deer symbol on the shield plus some all-important undercrackers - but she's definitely getting there.

Jamie's got a lot of other work on at the moment so we're not too sure of an April shipment for her, especially as there's the archer and Fane-Bearer versions yet to do, and of course the mounted versions... but we'll see.

She's looking awesome though!

Leofwen Progress

Postby Rob Lane » Tue Mar 19, 2019 12:21 pm

Once again it's all Anglecynn and Leofwen is getting there...

LEOFWEN, FANE-BEARER OF DĒRA
Leofwen is very nearly done - at least, the shieldwall version!

Image
Image

Jamie's sorted the pose, it's much better now, and he's added the dagger on her left leg and has begun the deer symbol on the shield. the bow and quiver are added, but not complete as there's no arrers. The "kneepads" on her legs need to go a little higher too.

But she's almost there! Huzzah!

He's begun the deer too, so that should be with us soon...ish... and we think she'll be a June shipment, to be honest!

We Hart Leofwen!

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jun 03, 2019 11:30 am

It's all Anglecynn and it's all Leofwen again... well, Leofwen and her trusty steed!

LEOFWEN, FANABEREND OF DĒRA ON GREAT HART
Jamie's work on Leofwen continues with the Great Hart version...

Image
Image

The first two shots are musculature, to show you how it all works, but the last shot is amazing...

Image

There's still a fair bit to do - the antlers are just placeholders and detailing needs work - but she's definitely getting there!

Leofwen Time

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Oct 07, 2019 1:29 pm

It's all Anglecynn and it's all Leofwen on Hart again...

LEOFWEN, FANABEREND OF DĒRA ON GREAT HART
Jamie's work on Leofwen continues at a snail's pace, but equally it's bloody amazing, so we'll forgive him.

Image

She's almost there: there's a few thickness issues on the legs and the banner itself, but she's definitely nearing completion!

Leofwen, Foot Done

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Oct 07, 2019 1:31 pm

It's all Anglecynn and it's all Leofwen on Hart again...

LEOFWEN, FANABEREND OF DĒRA ON FOOT
So here's Leofwen with banner on foot...

Image

...the great hart version you saw last time of course.

WARRIOR LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON FOOT
Here's the Warrior Leofwen version, done yonks ago...

Image

...but worth a look again as she's so ace.

HUNTER LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON FOOT
Here's the Hunter Leofwen version, probably our favourite of the lot!

Image

Now there's still the warrior and hunter versions on hart to see, but she's just about there guys and gals...

A Tale of Two Girlies

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Oct 07, 2019 1:37 pm

We have a number of miniatures to show this time, for the Anglecynn and the Ysians...

LEOFWEN, FANABEREND OF DĒRA ON FOOT
Let's start with Leofwen, who is - after a rather long drawn-out process - finished! Hurrah! We may as well show everything today, to remind people how awesome she is...

Image

...and she is bloody awesome! But then, she is from Yorkshire.

LEOFWEN, FANABEREND OF DĒRA ON GREAT HART
So here's the great hart version of Leofwen with banner, which you haven't seen yet (well not in pose anyway).

Image
Image
Image

She looks very regal in these poses!

WARRIOR LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON FOOT
So here's Warrior Leofwen on foot:

Image

Seen before, but worth looking at again because she looks superb!

WARRIOR LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON GREAT HART
Here's Warrior Leofwen on Great Hart, charging madly towards the enemy!

Image

The above is an unfinished version, but we love that shot! Here's the finished version from the other side:

Image
Image

Jamie's done a fantastic job here - we confidently predict she'll sell like the last hot cakes in the only hot cake shop at the end of the world!

HUNTER LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON FOOT
Hunter Leofwen is a cool addition for sure!

Image

Armed with a bow and that.

HUNTER LEOFWEN, THEGN OF DĒRA ON GREAT HART
The Great Hart version of Hunter Leofwen is in a cool trotting pose...

Image

...so you get three different poses of Great Hart!

Leofwen's done - hurrah!

FALCHION-ANNIK OF CARN WRACH, BATTLE-DRUNE ON FOOT
We decided to give Annik to Rafael Dioli - who did the recent ratties - and he's done a superb job, we think. So much so that we'll be giving Rafael all of the Ysians and Vras that need to be sculpted in the future!

After much deliberation (well, about two minutes, which is a lot for us) we decided to keep her pose just like the original art, because that original art is so original. Or something.

Image
Image

There'll be more Anniks to come of course - Sickle-Annik, who's nekkid; Bow-Annik, who's got a bow; and then three horsey versions. She's going to look awesome!

Annik Time Again!

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Oct 07, 2019 1:41 pm

We have one miniature for the Ysians to show you this week, but in three different ways...

SICKLE-ANNIK OF CARN WRACH, BATTLE-DRUNE ON FOOT
Now Sickle-Annik is a bit rude, as she's showing her lady bits, so we've had to protect the innocent with a picture of Tim's face, as always.

Image
Image

Here's the unprotected versions, as you're on our forums:

Image
Image

BOW-ANNIK OF CARN WRACH, BATTLE-DRUNE ON FOOT
The next version of Annik, Bow-Annik, is less rude but still awesome...

Image
Image

...her body is different to the other two variants to accommodate the pose correctly, so there's no possibility of swapping parts, but the other two can swap bodies and heads around between the variant weapons and helms with no problems.

FALCHION-ANNIK OF CARN WRACH, BATTLE-DRUNE ON HORSE
The foot versions are pretty much done, but here's the first images of Falchion-Annik on Horse...

Image

This is very much a work in progress, with the horse incomplete and not posed, but she's getting there. There'll be the other variants on horse, too!

The Birna is the Word

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Aug 07, 2020 2:54 pm

It's all for the Norse this week, and what Norse it is: three lovely variants of a lady miniature, desired by all and sundry...

SHIELDWALL BIRNA, DOTTIR OF HRAFNEN
Now Birna is one of our earliest miniatures but also one of our smallest. As we are trying to keep humans at roughly the same size, around 30-33mm tall, the old Birna just doesn't cut the mustard - as good as it is. Enter Bob Płociennik to create an awesome new version!

Let's start with Shieldwall Birna, because there's three variants of Birna all told!

Image
Image

Now you will get a helmed head option for each of the variants, so here's that...

Image

She's a superb addition to the Norse range!

You can pre-order Shieldwall Birna here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_110_100

RAVENER BIRNA, DOTTIR OF HRAFNEN
The awesome Ravener Birna is now a beautiful reality, thanks to Bob!

Image

She's utterly amazing - and she can have the helm of course...

You can pre-order Ravener Birna here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_112_100

HUNTER BIRNA, DOTTIR OF HRAFNEN
So now we have the long-awaited Hunter Birna!

Image

These three versions of Birna will be available at some point in the near future...

You can pre-order Hunter Birna here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_111_100

What's Next?
Rumours that Bob will resculpt Birna on her Fellhrafn are entirely true, it has to be said. Watch out for that soon!

As to the rest, Bob will be doing Cynemon and the Wælwulfas at some point soon. I'm very hopeful of bringing this project to a close later on in 2020 (in terms of miniatures sculpted, anyway), but we'll see. The year is rapidly disappearing...

Cynemon and the Wælwulfas

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 1:29 pm

No, that's not the name of a band, but it should be!

So, ahem, welcome, fellow Miercenaries, to another update for Darklands: Starter Hosts II, sailing closer to the end of this project than ever before. It's been a long while since the last update, for which I must humbly beg forgiveness: there simply aren't enough hours in the day.

There's just the Anglecynn left for this project, more specifically, Cynemon (completed) and the resculpted Wælwulfas (nearly completed)...

CYNEMON, WIḠLERE OF TAMTUN ON FOOT AND ON HORSE
Cynemon on foot has been due a resculpt for a long time and it's taken us a while to get here, but Bob never lets us down. He's completed the foot resculpt, of course, as well as the mounted version for this project!

Image

You can pre-order Cynemon on Foot and on Horse here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_160_000

Cynemon, Wiḡlere of Tamtun on Foot
The resculpt of Cynemon on foot includes all of the options for Wulfskull Cynemon - meaning, you only need to purchase one version and you get all the options.

Image
Image

You can even make him a baldy if you'd really like!

Image

You can pre-order Cynemon on foot here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_160_100

Cynemon, Wiḡlere of Tamtun on Horse
So Cynemon on Horse was the "new" part of this project for Cynemon, and of course Bob's made an amazing sculpt. Like Cynemon on foot, you get all the options in the one miniature!

Image
Image

You can pre-order Cynemon on Horse here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... cf_160_200

WULFRIC'S PACK, WÆLWULF UNIT
So now we come to the frankly stupendous new Wælwulf unit, the resculpt of the original Wulfric's Pack. Sculpted by Bob again, these are going to be utterly brilliant...

First of all, though, a word on scale. The old wælwulfas are quite small, now, certainly compared to the werwulfas, so we made sure Bob's got these guys a fair bit bigger, as you can see from the comparison to a werwulf below...

Image

You can pre-order the Wælwulf unit here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... in_500_005

Wulfric of Tamtun, Frēawælwulf
Wulfric is the champion of the unit, of course, and is suitably impressive...

Image
Image

You pronounce Wulfric as wulf-ritch, dontchaknow. Again, don't worry, these aren't finished, those dead guys on the base will be sorted...

Æsc, Monewælwulf
The "banner bearer" role is fulfilled by Æsc (pronounced Ash), thanks to his beautiful flowing mane...

Image
Image

...it's almost as nice as Rob's hair.

Dudda, Thēotenwælwulf
The "herald" of the unit is Dudda and is a herald because he's the best howler, as you can see...

Image
Image

...aroooooo!

Inguc, Wælwulf Warrior
A lovely warrior of the unit, Inguc (pronounced in-gutch) loves to rip enemies apart with his bare claws...

Image
Image

...and again, don't worry, that rock will be properly sculpted when he's finished...

Cenric, Wælwulf Warrior
Cenric (pronounced chen-ritch) is another fantastic warrior of the unit and also loves to rip enemies apart with his bare claws...

Image
Image

...and then to eat them!

There's a fair bit to do on these guys yet, not the least of which is alternate weapons (they will get wolverine-like claw additions and swords), so watch out for an update next year on that.

Only kidding - I will try to do updates here as often as I can...

You can pre-order the new Wulfric's Pack here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... in_500_005

What's Next?
So all Bob has to do is finish the Wælwulfas and the new Cearl and that should be that, at least in terms of completed sculpts. Then it's on to production...
