Darklands: Savage Hordes IV - Fulfilment

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jan 26, 2018 2:14 pm

DARKLANDS: SAVAGE HORDES IV
FULFILMENT

Waves are gone...
We've decided to remove the "Wave" system, for the simple reason that we just try to get stuff out when we can; it's confusing for us, let alone you guys, so we're just going to give you months instead of waves.

Regardless, we will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Metals will ship at separate times
The metal versions of miniatures will ship at least one wave later than the resin versions; it takes a while to get them ready to be cast in metal.

Now that we're used to working with the external casters we can give you a little idea of what goes on. Usually, it takes at least a month to get the master metal moulds from sending the miniatures to them; and then we must check these masters for errors and then either amend or okay them. Then they go into production, which takes another month.

Whilst we are using metal casters that are second to none in terms of quality, they are so busy it can take a while to get miniatures from them!

What Ships When
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when.

Resin Miniatures:
SHIPMENT WAVE 0 (complete): Existing miniatures
SHIPMENT WAVE 23 (August 2018): Warrior Garric - Archer Garric
SHIPMENT WAVE 28 (August 2019): Great Axe Kaarstan - Two Axe Kaarstan
SHIPMENT WAVE 29 (October 2019): Steinn the Bold on Foot - Steinn the Bold on Grundtroll - Hrafnen Crew, Holumann Unit
    JULY 2020: Sweorcan's Pack
    JULY 2020: Shieldwall Grey-Fur - Greatblade Grey-Fur
AUGUST 2020: Talos - Bronn's Brood, Cocwocor Unit - Warped of Danu, Fir Danu Unit (Niall - Máire - Torin - Ruairí - Pádraig) - Raab's Warband, Great Axe Reiver Unit - Baara's Warband, Two Axe Reiver Unit

Items in green will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have them in hand.
Items in yellow italics have been received from the sculptor or printer but not yet moulded. They should be sent in that wave, but it's possible they will slip into the next wave.
Items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

Metal Miniatures:
    JUNE 2020: Sweorcan's Pack
    JULY 2020: Shieldwall Grey-Fur - Greatblade Grey-Fur
SEPTEMBER 2020: Raab's Warband, Great Axe Reiver Unit - Baara's Warband, Two Axe Reiver Unit - Warrior Garric - Archer Garric - Steinn the Bold on Foot - Hrafnen Crew, Holumann Unit

Items in green will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have them in hand.
Items in green italics have been sent to the metal casters but have only been produced in sample form.
Items in yellow italics are in mould-making progress (as we have all of the miniatures required) and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the first samples.
items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

Purchasing Deadlines
There's still time to purchase everything from this project...

    Wave 0 Miniatures: complete!
    Wave 25 Miniatures: February 25th 2019
    Wave 26 Miniatures: April 29th 2019
    The Rest: until they ship!

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

New Hrafnen Crew

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jan 26, 2018 2:18 pm

There's just the one miniature to show so far, and he's for the Norse. It's early days, too, so bear with us!

HRAFNEN CREW, HOLUMANN UNIT
The Hrafnen Crew resculpt is happening because of the Hrafnen Bowmen from Savage Hordes II, which are being sculpted by Bob Płociennik, and of course that they're due a resculpt!

Vidkun the Brave, Holumann Kappi
It's early days for Vidkun the Brave, the unit's champion, but this is an early indication of how awesome the new Holumenn are going to be... All Hail Bob!

As well as the sword and shield you see here, they'll come with sword/axe and shield and spear and shield.

Image

These guys should be done in time for Wave 21...

More Holumenn!

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:52 pm

There's three miniatures to show today, and all for the Norse. These guys are bloody awesome. Nice one Bob!

HRAFNEN CREW, HOLUMANN UNIT
The Hrafnen Crew are being resculpted now because Bob is sculpting the Hrafnen Bowmen from Darklands: Savage Hordes, and it should be noted that each will have the option to be armed with sword and shield, spear and shield, axe and shield and sword and axe. As well as that, you'll have options to pop an axe, sword or shield on their backs for a myriad combinations of weapons and shields.

Vidkun the Brave, Holumann Kappi
Vidkun the Brave is the champion of the Hrafnen Crew and he is suitably attired with a nice helmet and a mean expression. Not that you can see his expression, mind, but trust us, it's there...

Sword and shield...

Image

Spear and shield...

Image

Axe and shield...

Image

Sword and axe...

Image
Image

Note that the legs are fixed on this version, and the others' legs will be the same as this one.

Snorri Snorrison, Holumann Merkismann
The banner bearer of the unit is Snorri Snorrison...

Image
Image

There's only one version of the banner bearer, of course, because of...

Sveinn, Holumann Warrior
Now Sveinn is the alternate warrior version of Snorri, and he's still a cracking miniature - although we'll have to fix those legs, we think, as they're a bit okkard, as we say in Mansfield.

Sword and shield...

These guys, we very much hope, will be a Wave 21 shipment... but we'll see.

Done Holumenn!

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Feb 23, 2018 5:08 pm

Seven guys for the Norse, and we're all as happy as can be!

HRAFNEN CREW, HOLUMANN UNIT
The new Hrafnen Crew are completed, and we're very happy about that indeed because they are bloody awesome.

To re-iterate what you'll get, each warrior will have the option to be armed with sword and shield, spear and shield, axe and shield and sword and axe. As well as that, you'll have options to pop an axe, sword or shield on their backs for a myriad combinations of weapons and shields.

How cool is that?

Vidkun the Brave, Holumann Kappi
The champion is Vidkun the Brave! Note that you get the choice of tree stump or pile of skulls for him to stand on.

Image
Image

He is brave, you know. He puts knives in the fork drawer at home!

Snorri Snorrison, Holumann Merkismann
The awesomeness of Snorri son of Snorri knows no bounds!

Image
Image

Now that Bob changed his legs so he doesn't look like he's on the toilet any more. Which is nice.

Gunnar Half-Shield, Holumann Hornbori
The herald of the unit is Gunnar Half-Shield...

Image
Image

...so named because he's two planks short of a six-pack.

Jan, Holumann Warrior
The lovely Jan is a warrior of the unit... here he is with sword and shield...

Image
Image

...spear and shield...

Image

...axe and shield...

Image

...sword and axe...

Image

...how awesome is this guy!

Undrik, Holumann Warrior
Another warrior, is Undrik. Sword and shield version...

Image
Image

...spear and shield...

Image

...axe and shield...

Image

...sword and axe...

Image

Note that all versions will have the spectacle helms shown in the sword and shield version...

Sveinn, Holumann Warrior
Sveinn is the alternate warrior version of Snorri... we showed him last time, so just a quick reprise:

Image

Note that his legs will match Snorri's new legs.

Ivarr, Holumann Warrior
The alternate warrior version of the hornblower is Ivarr! Here's his sword and shield version...

Image
Image

...spear and shield...

Image

...axe and shield...

Image

...sword and axe...

Image

Now that the unit is done, we're hopeful of a Wave 21 shipment for resin and Wave 22 for metal.

Ground Troll

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Mar 23, 2018 12:43 pm

Only one miniature to show this week, but it's an absolute belter, and for the Norse!

STEINN THE BOLD, SEGGR OF HRAFNEN ON GRUNDTROLL
Predictably, Bob's work on the Norse goes from strength to strength, and Steinn the Bold is utterly, utterly brilliant. Or at least, the Grundtroll is - and we're very much expecting Steinn to complement this awesome monstrosity...

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Here's the Grundtroll with a man on it... not Steinn: it's our old friend Garric, not yet turned into Steinn of course!

Image

Now you can see how big the Grundtroll is! You'll note the Grundtroll's pose is rather more dynamic than the artwork - that's deliberate.

Now, we think this guy will be a Wave 22 shipment in resin and a Wave 23 shipment in metal (well, the foot version anyway) - really that's all down to the printing backlog, if we're honest! But he'll be with you soon enough...

There's a few Norse miniatures to show you this week, although they all revolve around two, really...

STEINN THE BOLD, SEGGR OF HRAFNEN ON FOOT
Bob's work on Steinn the Bold - both on foot and on Grundtroll - is, we think you'll agree, nothing short of outstanding. But don't take our word for it... have a look yourself!

Here's the shieldwall version:

Image
Image

There is a two axe version now, too:

Image
Image

There is also a great axe version and a spear version, but he's not quite right yet so we'll wait to show him when he's sorted.

He should definitely be a Wave 23 shipment.

STEINN THE BOLD, SEGGR OF HRAFNEN ON GRUNDTROLL
The Grundtroll version of Steinn is bloody ace. Just look at it! Look!!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The right arm is a little awkward so we're going to sort that for next time. Again, you'll be able to have him with two axes, great axe and spear on the Grundtroll. That's a 100mm base, by the way.

We think he'll be a Wave 23 shipment, on time!

Wocors of Coc

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:12 pm

It's all about the Brythoniaid this week, specifically the Powys realm...

BRONN'S BROOD, COCWOCOR UNIT
The Cocwocorau are massive stubby-winged flightless bird-things with crushing beaks, a deafening shriek and a nasty temperament to boot. Bronn's Brood come a bit keen on the battlefield!

Image

Bronn ap Banbronn, Pencocwocor of Powys
Bronn's been around for a while now and was one of Bob's first sculpts for us, but it's worth showing him again of course!

Image

Still a cracking miniature!

Glach ap Diglach, Cocwocor of Powys
His name's Glach ap Diglach, and he's got a curly tongue!

Image
Image

Perhaps it's some kind of noise ulululululator or something.

Pedr ap Pedroc, Cocwocor of Powys
Now Pedr ap Pedroc, he's not bothered about noise, he just wants to bash you over the head with his flinty stone blade thing, and then swallow you whole. No subtlety, some people.

Image
Image

Well these guys are done, and looking amazing of course, but our printing queue is so long we reckon it'll be October by the time he's winging his way to you guys...

What's Next
Next up for this project in terms of sculpts is probably a way in the future, so we're hesitant to predict, but Jason Hendricks will be doing the great weapon Brute-Beasts at some point in the near future. With Bob heavily into Savage Hordes III currently, he'll probably not drop onto this project again until later on this year, but we'll probably give him the Wulfas first...

Reivers that are Great, Fur that is Grey

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Aug 16, 2019 3:13 pm

We've eight miniatures to show this week, for the Fomoraic Reivers of the Eye and the Vras Three-Claw...

RAAB'S WARBAND, GREAT AXE REIVER UNIT
The awesome Stéphane Camosseto has been cracking on with the alterations to the Reiver Hunters, and first to get the treatment are the Great Axe Reivers!

Image

Raab, Great Axe Reiver Gultain
The champion of the unit is Raab...

Image
Image

...not C Nesbitt, but close.

Paad, Great Axe Reiver Warrior
Now the banner bearer / herald will be done last, so here's Paad...

Image
Image

...the first warrior.

Kaalun, Great Axe Reiver Warrior
The second warrior, a lady, is called Kaalun...

Image
Image

She looks a bit miffed about something or other!

Niall, Great Axe Reiver Warrior
Niall is the alternate of the banner bearer, Aalek...

Image
Image

...or maybe it's the other way around.

Oraag, Great Axe Reiver Warrior
The last warrior of the unit is Oraag...

Image
Image

...again, she'll be the alternate of the herald.

There's a way to go on these guys - the banner bearer and herald need doing of course - but it won't be long. Later on in the year though for shipping.

GREATBLADE GREY-FUR, VRAS-CHIEF
So here's Grey-Fur, a lovely Vras-Chief for the Vras, with a Greatblade.

Image

Now the artwork had the blade pointing the wrong way so whilst Rafael Dioli did it that way first, we changed it so that it's now pointing the right way!

Image

Rafael will also be doing Grey-Fur with spear and shield, so that won't take long for him too.

Later on in the year for Grey-Fur!

What's Next
Stéphane Camosseto is finishing up the Great Axe Reivers (and after those it's the Shieldwall and Two Axe Reivers of course), and Rafael Dioli will be doing Shieldwall Grey-Fur.

A Ratty Report

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Jan 31, 2020 12:49 pm

The first update of 2020 for Darklands: Savage Hordes IV is here - and it includes some long-awaiting rattiness!

Metal Production

As some of you are aware of, metal production has kind of stalled over the last year or so - for the simple reason that we've been trying to get metal production in-house. Why? Relatively simple reasons: cost, time and convenience!

Well, after jumping through many council- and licence-related issues in 2019, we've got the equipment set up and ready to go - with one problem: metal moulds. Our Tim and the boys have enough on their plate printing and moulding for resin miniatures, and we can't afford to hire a metal moulder, but what we can do is get someone to do the mould-making for us on an ad-hoc basis. We've finally found someone (we hope) and that means, after a little training, we can get started on metal production very soon.

Be warned - we will start with the most important metals (i.e., the ones that have sold most) first, such as the Sávrar or the Reiver Hunters or the Sword-Melusines - but we will be getting around to any old metal production after that. Either way, we're confident that - as long as the mould-maker stays true to his scheduling - we can clear any outstanding metal versions of miniatures that have been produced in 2020, and after that, any new miniatures should have metal versions at the point of release.

The first moulds should be spinning in February, we think, but we'll probably only start getting proper production going in March.

It's been a long, hard road - but we always do get there in the end.

Now we've no miniatures to show this week, but we do have some artwork, specifically for the Vras kindred and the Three-Claw realm...

GNAW-MAW'S DEN, REND-VRAS UNIT
We've finally got some artwork for the Rend-Vras!! The Gnaw-Maw's Den, Rend-Vras Unit will be a reality at some point in the near future!

Gnaw-Maw, Rend-Vras Kill-Fang
The champion of the unit is Gnaw-Maw, of course...

Image

Look at the size of that chopper!

Black-Claw, Rend-Vras Warrior
The first warrior is Black-Claw. You can't see it here, but one of his claws is black.

Image

He's a brute!

Mangle-Fang, Rend-Vras Warrior
We were going to call Mangle-Fang "Joe Mangle-Fang" but only Neighbours watchers from the 80s and 90s would get it.

Image

So maybe quite a few people in Britain and Australia, but no-one else!

Wrong-Tail, Rend-Vras Warrior
The question is, has he really got a Wrong-Tail?

Image

Looks like it!

Tear-Jaw, Rend-Vras Warrior
He tears jaws, does Tear-Jaw! We're not sure what with, though.

Image

Now these guys have some artwork I'll be updating graphics and whatnot over the next week or so. They will eventually be sculpted by Rafael Dioli, please note!

What's Next
Valentin Zak is, reportedly, starting the Fir Danu soon but we'll see. Regardless of that, Jason Hendricks will be doing the great weapon Brute-Beasts at some point in the near future. With Bob heavily into Savage Hordes III currently, he'll probably not drop onto this project again until later on this year, but we'll probably give him the Wulfas first...

Of Beetles and Warped Warriors

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Apr 17, 2020 2:07 pm

We do have miniatures to show this week, but let's see some concept art first - this time for the Jutes!

THE VICIOUS OF HEARDTU, MOUND BEETLE UNIT
Kurt Jakobi has been beavering away - or is that beetling away? - at the Mound Beetles because we promised there'd be new ones from this project - and here they are, The Vicious of Heardtu, Mound Beetle Unit in all their shuddering glory...

Thacaldān, Mound Beetle
So you all should know of Thacaldān already, he's been around a bit: but if we're sculpting two more, we may as well take the opportunity to do a new one...

Image
Image

...and with his wing-cases open!

Nægmiht, Mound Beetle
The second mound beetle is Nægmiht...

Image

...which roughly translates as nail-might... in other words, watch out for his claws!

Brutan, Mound Beetle
Brutan is indeed a brute!

Image

Remember, these guys will be on 80mm bases and no doubt Bob Plociennik will be sculpting them.

What's Next
We've still got some artwork to do, namely Olympia the Stratekórikolossos for the Atalantes, the Midden Beetles and Nihtbats for the Jutes, and the Cúax Pack (hounds of war) for the Fomoraic. Kurt will do the Midden Beetles and Nihtbats for sure, but no idea about Olympia and the Cúax Pack...

MINIATURES
So here's the promised sculpt works in progress, and they're for the Érainn!

WARPED OF DANU, FIR DANU UNIT
So here's a lovely thing, Valentin Zak has been working hard on the Warped of Danu, Fir Danu Unit and they're definitely getting there. Here's a scale shot to show you their size:

Image

Niall, Fir Danu Ceann
Niall is the champion of the unit...

Image
Image
Image

...although once the warp takes him, he can't remember his name, let alone those he's meant to be leading!

Máire, Fir Danu Warrior
You wouldn't want to mess with Máire...

Image

...especially if you asked her where dinner is after a hard day down the pub.

Torin, Fir Danu Warrior
Torin is a Fir Danu...

Image
Image

...that is, a man of Danu, the Earth Goddess!

Ruairí, Fir Danu Warrior
Ruairí (Rory to his mates) is also a Fir Danu warrior...

Image
Image

...but he'd better be careful. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

Pádraig, Fir Danu Warrior
Now Pádraig, he loves a bit of warping...

Image
Image
Image

...but not so as he can't enjoy his time on the battlefield!

So these guys are still a work in progress, but Valentin is getting there and should be sending me new images very soon.

What's Next
In the very near future, Bob Plociennik will be doing the Wulfas and new Freawulfas for good measure, and then lots of everything else. Other than that, Jason Hendricks will be doing the great weapon Brute-Beasts soon...

Wolves and the Warp

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Apr 17, 2020 2:14 pm

Here's some lovely sculpt works in progress, for the Anglecynn and the Érainn...

SWEORCAN'S PACK, WULF UNIT
Bob's been hard at work recently getting some awesome Hyaenas done for the Byzantii, but he's returned to our kickstarter projects with a surprise - the lovely Sweorcan's Pack, Wulf Unit...

Sweorcan, Great Wulf
The hard-bitten alpha of the pack is Sweorcan...

Image
Image

...grizzled he may be, but still up for a fight...

Thura, Wulf
This wulf, Thura,

Image
Image

is the beta... the challenger. Sweorcan has to watch his back!

Bryni, Wulf
Brutan is a pack wulf...

Image
Image

...devoted to Sweorcan.

Ina, Wulf
Ina is spoiling for a fight...

Image
Image

...and he'll get one!

Tiw, Wulf
Named after the god of battle, Tiw is not yet sculpted, but will be for next time.

The Wulfas are looking great and whilst there's a couple of things we need to change - extend the neck on some, add a few scars etc. on others - they're almost ready. Remember, these are 30mm bases, so they're big wolves... about as big as the timber wolves of today.

Rumours that Bob will be doing new Frēawulfas are entirely true. Next!

WARPED OF DANU, FIR DANU UNIT
The awesome Valentin Zak is cracking on with the Warped of Danu, Fir Danu Unit and all of them are almost done... hoping they'll all be finished next week!

Niall, Fir Danu Ceann
Niall is still the champion of the unit...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...and still awesome!

Máire, Fir Danu Warrior
Máire is getting there...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...although you wouldn't.

Torin, Fir Danu Warrior
Torin is about done...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...as would you be, if you were nearby!

Ruairí, Fir Danu Warrior
Ruairí (Rory to his mates) is also a Fir Danu warrior...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...he'll keep an eye on you for sure.

Pádraig, Fir Danu Warrior
Paddy to his mates, Pádraig doesn't have mates when he's warping...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...so it's best to call him sir.

The Fir Danu are almost done, which means we should have them fairly soon; we think they may have to go on 50mm bases as Valentin's done them a little larger than we wanted - but we'd rather change the profile than the miniatures because they're so amazing!

In the future, Bob Plociennik will be finishing off the Wulfas and doing new Freawulfas for good measure, and then lots of everything else. Other than that, Jason Hendricks will be doing the great weapon Brute-Beasts soon...

Warped Up!

Postby Rob Lane » Fri May 15, 2020 10:39 am

Here's some lovely sculpt works in progress for the Érainn!

WARPED OF DANU, FIR DANU UNIT
The awesome Valentin Zak has completed the Warped of Danu, Fir Danu Unit and they are bundles of joy wrapped up in chocolate. They are awesome!

Niall, Fir Danu Ceann
Niall is the champion of the unit,

Image

has a smaller weapon now. But don't say that in front of him.

Máire, Fir Danu Warrior
Máire is now completed...

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

...thankfully.

Torin, Fir Danu Warrior
Torin also has a smaller weapon...

Image

...as well as a smaller shield. Their weapons and armour warp with them - slightly, anyway - as they are made of materials from the earth.

Ahem.

That's the excuse I'm using.

Ruairí, Fir Danu Warrior
Ruairí has also gained (lost) a smaller weapon...

Image

...which may be comical now, but when it's brained you, you won't be laughing we're sure!

Pádraig, Fir Danu Warrior
Now Pádraig's weapon got smaller too...

Image

...but you should still call him sir!

The Fir Danu are now done, which means we should have them fairly soon; we think they may have to go on 50mm bases as Valentin's done them a little larger than we wanted - but we'd rather change the profile than the miniatures because they're so amazing!

Art for Art's Sake

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:58 pm

So we've still got some concept artworks to get sorted for this project, mostly for the Jutes, and so up stepped Kurt Jakobi with some not-very-easy works that he has handled with a comb. I mean, aplomb!

THE SPITTERS OF HORSTEDE, MIDDEN BEETLE UNIT
So Kurt's second round of beetles, the Midden Beetles, aren't actually a part of this project: but they'll eventually go with the Jutboḡa host, replacing the Dwimor, who will be in a Wiht host eventually.

Now these guys will be support monstrous infantry on 60mm bases. They're unashamedly based on Bombardier Beetles that can spit acid from their rectums; needless to say, in Darklands, that will be rather nasty. So watch out for these sods on the battlefield!

You can purchase them here: https://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php ... in_940_000

Eglāc, Midden Beetle
So Eglāc is the leader of the unit...

Image
Image

...and he loves eggs, for sure!

Caldic, Midden Beetle
A warrior, is Caldic...

Image
Image

...no, it doesn't mean cold dick. Potty minds!

Ardic, Midden Beetle
So Ardic is the last member of the unit...

Image
Image

...he has got an 'ard dick though.

Bob will no doubt sculpt these beggars!

BATS OF CISEL, NIHTBAT UNIT
The last concept artworks we need for this project are the Bats of Cisel (pronounced chisel), a unit of nihtbats that were included within the Ghūlgār host. Standing on 80mm bases, these are BIG bats! Kurt Jakobi has done the honours again.

IMPORTANT: If you've purchased the Ghūlgār host, you'll only get two Nihtbats - not Thrada, basically - so if you want all three, you'll have to purchase Thrada on his own.

You can get hold of them here: https://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php ... bs_195_000

Thrada, Cavern Nihtbat
We already have a Thrada, of course...

Image
Image

...but we feel he'd have to be resculpted to match the other two.

Cuc, Nihtbat
Cuc is a nihtbat,

Image
Image

but he's not a cuckoo. Or cuck. Short for cuckold.

Edun, Nihtbat
The last nihtbat of the unit is Edun...

Image
Image

We're thinking these guys will be done with the Mound Beetles, in February of next year...

What's Next
In the future, Bob Plociennik will be doing lots of everything. Other than that, Jason Hendricks will be doing the great weapon Brute-Beasts soon...

Beetle Bums

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:02 pm

Some lovely Jute miniatures for you this time around... even though only one was unlocked by this project, we're doing two more!

THE VICIOUS OF HEARDTU, MOUND BEETLE UNIT
Yes indeedy, we have three mighty mound beetles on 80mm bases ahead of us, all awesomely digitally sculpted by Bob Płociennik; one will replace the original Thacaldān, which we're sad about because it's a cracking sculpt, but having two others of a different style would look odd. So Bob's done a unit of three!

Thacaldān, Mound Beetle
The new Thacaldān will be a cracking addition to the Jutes and not just because of the punch these mound beetles bring in-game; it's a reminder that they fly, too - thanks to Thacaldān's spreading wings!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

These wings will be produced in semi-opaque resin in a colour that can only be described as "a bit like wee". But don't let that put you off - it may look disgusting, but it's a beautiful ugliness!

Nægmiht, Mound Beetle
Nægmiht is a cracking sculpt - somehow Bob has the knack of imbuing alien-like creatures with some kind of human character...

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Remember, these guys are on 80mm bases and will be around the same tall. They're huge!

Brutan, Mound Beetle
The last beetle of the unit is Brutan - a real brute of a beast if anything is...

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Now these guys are slated for production alongside Eormanræd and Scethæn later on this year: July to be precise! There will be some other stuff to spend your hard-earned cash on, so watch out for a promotion aroundabout that time...

What's Next
Next up for Bob - at least for this project - will be the Dwimor and then the Gorgers, which are both slated for production this year. After that will be Berenulf, the Felljötnar, and so on and so forth. He's doing all the Anglecynn, Brythoniaid, Byzantii, some Fomoraic (Graach's Herd), Jutes and Khthones.

Rafael Dioli will be doing the Albainn, Atalantes, Vras and Ysian stuff - probably the Vras stuff first.

Yannick Fusier will be doing the Fomoraic Ograx!

Valentin Zak will be doing the Fir Bholg Beater and Mor Bholg units - and he'll be starting those very soon...

Big Bad Bholgies

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:07 pm

Only two miniatures to show for the Érainn this week, but there'll be more over the coming month or so...

BHOLG OF AN MHUIRTHEAD, FIR BHOLG BEATER UNIT
Valentin Zak has begun his usual awesome work on the Fir Bholg lardies, with the banner bearer and herald bearing low-hanging fruit first... mainly for ease of conversion into warriors!

Lantie, Fir Bholg Beater Bratachagh
Now Lantie, the banner bearer, he had a lazy eye, so he did; and when Timoth and his highly reflective baldiness hove into view his lazy eye closed just that little too late, so it was blinded and in his agony Séamuss struck his own eye out. With Séamuss' spoon.

Ahem. Let's start with an early version of Lantie, showing the banner configuration...

Image

More recently, here's Lantie looking rather more.. spiffing!

Image
Image
Image

We love these guys! Especially their tiny legs. How do they run?

Séamuss, Fir Bholg Beater Aralt
Now Séamuss, the herald, uses the spoon Lantie used to take his blinded, painful eye out to bash a tin pot covered in the skin of Timoth's bottom (the fleshiest part) and make some drumming sounds. They got their revenge on Timoth, all right... in more ways than one.

Image
Image
Image
Image

These guys are slated for later on this year and with Valentin's usual speed we should expect them to be produced on time...

What's Next
Next up for Bob - at least for this project - will be the Dwimor and then the Gorgers, which will be produced next year.

Valentin Zak will carry on with the Fir Bholg Beater unit and then he'll do the Mór Bholg...

Lardies and Lurkers

Postby Rob Lane » Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:17 pm

It's been a long time since the last update for Darklands: Savage Hordes IV, for which I must humbly beg forgiveness: there simply aren't enough hours in the day.

We've a few miniatures to show you, for the Érainn and the Khthones... watch out for more soon!

BHOLG OF AN MHUIRTHEAD, FIR BHOLG BEATER UNIT
Over the past year Valentin Zak has been beavering away for the Fir Bholg fatties, with just one warrior not yet finished. That means we can show you lots of lard!

Finnbarr, Fir Bholgmór Beater
Being the champion of the unit, Finnbarr is suitably fatter than the rest but is also a bit better armed and armoured...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...and he probably has a bit more hair than the rest (at least, than the male ones). He could probably have a comb-over, to be fair!

Lantie, Fir Bholg Beater Bratachagh
The banner bearer, Lantie, has a massive banner indeed...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...as well as a massive baldy head! He's got the least hair of any of them...

Séamuss, Fir Bholg Beater Aralt
The herald is known as Séamuss, so he is...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...and he's got a bit more hair than Lantie, sideburns in fact...

Biddie, Fir Bholg Beater Warrior
Biddie is the least "done" of the unit, and being a lady lardy, she's got knee-shooting boobs...

Image
Image
Image
Image

...which will be covered by a bikini, at least!

Paidí, Fir Bholg Beater Warrior
A fine example of Bholghood, is Paidí...

Image
Image
Image

...and he probably rivals Finnbarr in the hair stakes...!

Wullie, Fir Bholg Beater Warrior
The alternate of the banner bearer, is Wullie, but he's not done yet...

Image

...but you can see what he'll look like from the art above.

Séa, Fir Bholg Beater Warrior
The same with Séa, too - the alternate of the herald...

Image

So these guys are now slated for production beginning in June of this year, a date we are definitely looking forward to because they are, quite simply, Excellent Fatties.

You can purchase them here: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php? ... in_400_000

GORGERS OF KHTHON, STÓSKOULAR UNIT
The Gorgers are a unit of stóskoular, basically spiky worms that burrow under the earth and appear behind enemy lines...

Sischa, Stóskoular of Khthon
Sischa will happily finish off an unsuspecting wizard on the back line...

Image
Image

...or on the flanks...

Krillys, Stóskoular of Khthon
Krillys tends to go for the odd shot engine up to no good...

Image
Image

...perhaps the wood makes things a bit crunchier...

Cholo, Stóskoular of Khthon
Now Cholo, he likes a stray unit of hounds to eat...

Image
Image

...although he'll go for a human at a push!

So these guys will be in production in June of this year too, so watch out for them!

What's Next
Next up for Bob - at least for this project - will be Berenulf and the Dwimor and the Felljötnar, and so on and so forth. He's doing all the Anglecynn, Brythoniaid, Byzantii, some Fomoraic (Graach's Herd), Jutes and Khthones from this project.

Rafael Dioli will be doing the Albainn, Atalantes, Vras and Ysian stuff - probably the Vras stuff first.

Yannick Fusier will be doing the Fomoraic Ograx!

Valentin Zak will carry on with the Fir Bholg Beater unit and then he'll do the Mór Bholg...
