Darklands: Starter Hosts - Fulfilment

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Nov 10, 2017 12:21 pm

DARKLANDS: STARTER HOSTS
FULFILMENT

Waves are gone...
We've decided to remove the "Wave" system, for the simple reason that we just try to get stuff out when we can; it's confusing for us, let alone you guys, so we're just going to give you months instead of waves.

Regardless, we will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Metals will ship at separate times
The metal versions of miniatures (if there are any) will ship at least one wave later than the resin versions; it takes a while to get them ready to be cast in metal.

Now that we're used to working with the external casters we can give you a little idea of what goes on. Usually, it takes at least a month to get the master metal moulds from sending the miniatures to them; and then we must check these masters for errors and then either amend or okay them. Then they go into production, which takes another month.

Whilst we are using metal casters that are second to none in terms of quality, they are so busy it can take a while to get miniatures from them!

What Ships When
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when.

Resin Miniatures:

SHIPMENT WAVE 19 (October 2017): Unhelmed Chaaruch
SHIPMENT WAVE 20 (February 2018): Thrada
SHIPMENT WAVE 27 (June 2019): Brude
SHIPMENT WAVE 29 (October 2019): Veteran Spears of Dun Durn, Gairmorlom Unit
FEBRUARY 2020: Sleanagh Aidan - Men of Dún Geanainn, Sleanagh Unit - Bholg of Chliara, Fir Bholg Thrower Unit - Sweordsman Wihtwald - The Lost of Black Barrow, Wihtsweord Unit

Items in green will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have them in hand.
Items in yellow italics have been received from the sculptor or printer but not yet moulded. They should be sent in that wave, but it's possible they will slip into the next wave.
Items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

Metal Miniatures:

    FEBRUARY 2020: Brude
APRIL 2020: Sleanagh Aidan - Men of Dún Geanainn, Sleanagh Unit - Bholg of Chliara, Fir Bholg Thrower Unit - Sweordsman Wihtwald - The Lost of Black Barrow, Wihtsweord Unit

Items in green will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have them in hand.
Items in green italics have been sent to the metal casters but have only been produced in sample form.
Items in yellow italics are in mould-making progress (as we have all of the miniatures required) and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the first samples.
items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

Purchasing Deadlines
There's still time to purchase everything from this project...

    Wave 0 Miniatures: complete
    Wave 20 Miniatures: February 19th 2018
    Wave 26 Miniatures: April 27th 2019
The Rest: we've ended late pledges (except under certain circumstances) and added everything to the main webstore as Kickstarter items.

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

Sculpts and Sculptors
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: Savage Hordes! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

We've split the lists into completely new sculpts and alterations to make life easier for us all!

New Sculpts and Alterations:
VALENTIN ZAK: Valentin has completed the Sleanagh, Fir Bholg Throwers and Sleanagh Aidan.

That's it for this project in terms of sculpts!

Completed Sculpts
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in green; in progress sculpts are in yellow italics.

Wihts with Swords

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Nov 10, 2017 12:38 pm

There's eight miniatures to show today, but we're going to make things very simple for you - it's the Jutes, and they're by Bob Płociennik. Nice!

SWEORDSMAN WIHTWALD, WIHT THAIN
Sculpted originally by Edgar Skomorowski, our very own Bob Płociennik has converted Sweordsman Wihtwald to be having a rather rusty sword. Awesome!

Image

He'll be Wave 20!

SWEORDSMAN WIHTWALD, WIHT THAIN
Again sculpted originally by Edgar Skomorowski, our fantastic in-house sculptor Bob Płociennik has converted The Dead of Black Barrow to become The Lost of Black Barrow, with swords instead of spears. They look bloody awesome to us!

Note that baldy Sweordsman Wihtwald is not included, he's just for show. They'll be Wave 20!

Rude Brude

Postby Rob Lane » Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:24 pm

The Albainn gained a new warchief in Darklands: Starter Hosts, and not before time. Valentin Zak got the job of sculpting him...

BRUDE, AURMAER OF DUN DURN
Brude is an Aurmaer, a host champion for the Albainn, and Valentin Zak has done a stand up job on him so far!

He should be a Wave 21 shipment, and once this version is done we'll mould him and send him back so he can do the other versions...

Brude the Dude

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Feb 23, 2018 3:43 pm

Valentin's now finished work on Brude, and he looks bloody amazing, as always for Valentin's work!

BRUDE, AURMAER OF DUN DURN
Brude the awesome Albainn host champion is looking utterly superb, as you can see! We'll mould him and then send him back to Valentin for his alternates, of course...

He should be a Wave 21 shipment in this form, though!

More Gairlom. Meaning, Gairmorlom!

Postby Rob Lane » Fri Dec 07, 2018 12:51 pm

We have seven miniatures to show you today, for the Albainn, and they are another step along the way to getting this project sorted...

VETERAN SPEARS OF DUN DURN, GAIRMORLOM UNIT
The Veteran Spears of Dun Durn are Gairlom with helmets and chainmail, in lore and in miniature form, and called Gairmorlom (effectively meaning Veteran Spear Blokes). It's that simple!

Image

These guys should be a Wave 26 shipment!

The Last Update...

Postby Rob Lane » Tue Sep 10, 2019 3:13 pm

We have eleven miniatures to show you for the Érainn, and they are the sum total of all the miniatures necessary to finish this project. So we're done and dusted, at least in terms of sculpts remaining. That surely means there is some kind of celebration in the offing...

SLEANAGH AIDAN, DEAIS OF THE UÍ NÉILL
The cracking miniature known as Aidan now has a spear and shield instead of a banner...

Image

...but he's still got that reet big beard. Must be something in the water!

MEN OF DÚN GEANAINN, SLEANAGH UNIT
So here we have a lovely unit of Sleanagh, spearmen, although it's populated mostly by women. 5 to 2, in fact. Sign me up nurse!

Keóghan, Sleanagh Ceann
The champion's a bloke though...

Image

... and he's called Keóghan, Keegan if you like. We might get Valentin to pop a helmet on him, though.

Aingeal, Sleanagh Ceann
The first lady is an angel called Aimngea...

Image

...and yes, she's an angel. Except when you don't wipe the skirting boards down like she asked an hour ago.

Síne, Sleanagh Aralt
Now Síne - pronounced Sheena - is a herald with a horn...

Image

...and that's not the only thing she blows. Sometimes she has to blow up footballs for young Micky, like.

Conallan, Sleanagh Warrior
Conallan is the other (lucky) bloke in the unit...

Image

...and although he's a pretty old dude, he's still got game.

Nára, Sleanagh Warrior
"Bloody Nára!"

Image

Said Jim. "Call that dinner? You can't set steel on salad!"

Aignéis, Sleanagh Warrior
Aignéis - like agnes - has no truck with truck drivers...

Image

...lorry drivers, on the other hand, are her thing...

Siobhan, Sleanagh Warrior
The alternate of the herald is Siobhan...

Image

Pronounced Shǝ-vorn, of course.

BHOLG OF CHLIARA, FIR BHOLG THROWER UNIT
The Fir Bholg Hurlers have now been converted into the Fir Bholg Throwers, and they look bloody ace!

Douglass, Fir Bholgmór Thrower
Douglass is a happy chappie...

Image

...'cos he's the champion, so he gets to order his mates about!

Feargie, Fir Bholg Thrower
Feargie looks less happy;

Image

but that's probably because he's so ugly. And he's hungry. A bad combination!

Gussie, Fir Bholg Thrower
Gussie, though, takes a more philosophical view on life...

Image

...he'll eat anything that moves, and try to eat everything else!

So these guys are finished, and that does indeed finish up this project sculpting-wise! There's still a ways to go in terms of getting everything moulded and cast, but we can tell you the Gairmorlom are being cast in resin right now, as is Brude of course, and the Shieldwall Oghurithne aren't far behind... so we are getting there!
