any interest with a tale of X gamers?

Postby demyse » Tue Aug 09, 2016 4:00 pm

So with the upcoming release of hosts to the general public would anyone be interested in a tale of X gamers?
I am fairly new to dark lands and should be getting my hands on a host fairly soon, plus im sure there are a few people here who have a few brown boxes lying around waiting to be assembled.
Even if this isn't to game I think it would be cool to have some people put together and paint a host.

thoughts?

My and my gaming buddy Krikke will be hosting a Darklands display table at the Crisis convention in Antwerp. The convention takes place on the 7th of november. But we still have a lot of models to paint. So I am definitely interested in this Tale of X gamers for some extra painting motivation!

Something I've seen other groups do is a Monthly Painting Oath, which I think is slightly better as people can drop in and out as RL commitments allow.

That would be a good idea. Since there is no continuation of Casual Darklands Hobby Challenge, Tale of X gamers would motivate me to paint my Mierce minis.

Sounds like a great Idea, they deserve to be painted!

I will probably start a new thread to keep things a bit clearer. I will keep this thread active until everyone is ready to go, then start a new one when we actually start if thats ok.
I am kind of worried though looking at the standard of painting on this forum, which is fantastic, and the standard of mine, which is...... not so much

I gave it a try a few months ago and didn't get much interest :(

Those Krokodar still aren´t finished (I have made some progress, but still they aren´t finished). It was a nice Idea, thank you very much for taking the time to organize it. And don´t sell yourself short, there have been quite a few entries and some realy awesome results - I still think that it is a great Idea (but I don´t think I would participate in one again anytime soon - I am way too slow for that).

I can only speak for myself, but for me the timeframe was too short - one month isn´t all that much for a slow painter like me. So something like an ongoing Project with the set goal to get a Host finished sounds like it could work for me (or I will have some partly painted Brythoniaid Models at the End of the Project  ).

I would still be interested if we are going to give it a try - here are some Brythoniaid Barbarians that have to be painted before their Byzantii Overlords arrive  .

I'm in the same boat as Count - I just can't get enough done in a month to really join in, although I do have a placeholder plog post here for when I do have stuff to share!

I´ve taken the Liberty of opening a thread:

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=643

My Plan:
Make a Post of my Progress every week, no matter how much I did finish, so that way there will be some kind of deadline but not the kind of "get it finished until then" more of the "do something or you will have nothing to show next week" deadline.

I hope to see some other threads like this pop up, I think it could work, steady progress, the pressure is there but not too strong - so let´s get those treasures painted!

How about a two month challenge, starting in Feb/March? Since there's a lot of stuff that will ship then, we can hopefully get more folks on board, plus, that's a good amount of preparation time for people to build and undercoat stuff. I think Zed's point system from the last one was good.

building and undercoating is my goal... anything else is aspirational at best.

I'm interested. I'm slow as hell, and overly busy with kids and family obligations, but I could use something to help inspire me. :)
