Darklands Sheffield Slaughter 2023

Postby Rob Lane » Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:44 pm

Miercenaries!

After badgering the organisers to allow us to replicate last year's successful event (you can read the report here), we've been given five tables to play Darklands on at the Darklands Sheffield Slaughter Tournament 2023 which will be played over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of February, 2023, in Sheffield.

Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Sheffield Park, the Darklands Sheffield Slaughter Tournament 2023 is a great opportunity to meet the team as well as play five games of Darklands with experienced players in a very relaxed atmosphere!

You can find the tournament rules pack here: Sheffield Slaughter 2023 Darklands Tournament Rules Pack

I'm in! How do I enter?
Simply purchase a Darklands Sheffield Slaughter 2023 Ticket (costing £35) from the Mierce Miniatures webstore and you're in! Be very quick though - we think this tournament will sell out fairly quickly as we are limited to twelve players in total.

This ticket covers the cost of entry (which includes an A4 rules pack to keep) as well as two meals on the Saturday and one on Sunday, and you can stay over at the DoubleTree by Hilton of course.

We think it's a damn good price to enter and we really do recommend that you stay over on both Friday and Saturday nights as there'll be an open gaming session on Friday evening in the hall as well as a chance to speak to the team about everything Darklands and Mierce Miniatures. Even if you can't enter or are too late, drop by to have a chat with us!

Tournament Overview
The Darklands Sheffield Slaughter Tournament 2023 will use the Darklands: Second Edition rules as well as the current Muster Rules and official kindred musters for each kindred. We will also be using any official Mierce Miniatures FAQs, errata and addenda that are released up to the host muster submission deadline, and of course any relevant rules presented in the rules pack. The full tournament rules are below, but here's a summary of what you can expect:

    - There'll be five games over the weekend, three on Saturday, two on Sunday, using 1,500 silver hosts that MUST be fully painted. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so get your paintbrushes out!

    - Players may not muster units from their kindred musters that have not yet been released by Mierce Miniatures as miniatures. However, we will accept conversions of existing miniatures for nobles only. Miniatures made by other companies are not allowed to be used.

    - Each player's host muster has to be submitted to the tournament organiser no later than two weeks before the tournament (so the 10th of June 2022); this allows time to check each muster for errors and so that we can print out and laminate profiles for your hosts.

    - The battlefields and their terrain will be set at the beginning of the tournament; you must bring your own kindred terrain.

    - Battles will be scored using our Five Thousand Points system and both painting and sportsmanship scores will be added at the end to work out the various winners.

    - There'll be prizes for first, second and third place, as well as a wooden spoon for the lucky loser, best sportsman and best painted army. There'll also be various spot prizes throughout the event.

Tournament Rules
The full rules for the Darklands Sheffield Slaughter Tournament 2023 will be available later on this year, but they will be very similar to the
Darklands Sherwood Grand Tournament 2022 rules, so have a look at those!

Hi Rob,
Hope you are well?
Really interested in taking part in this after we spoke.
I hope to get some games under my belt before the event, but I will be a very new player. Will this be an issue at the tournament?
Cheers

Not at all mate, noobs are absolutely welcome! The experienced guys are always very accommodating to new players and I will be there to help out with rules questions and so forth. All I really ask in return is that you listen to those guys and learn from them as much as you can.

It was good to meet you and Mark yesterday and it will be great to see you at the event!

Cheers

I've just been told there's only ten places for us at the Slaughter so there's only six spaces left, guys and gals.

The tournament rules pack is done! Apologies for the tardiness... nothing much has changed from the Sherwood GT, just names and dates...

Hey all,
It is almost time for slaughter!
I'm planning to be at the Hotel around 3pm. Thanks to Rob being cool I'll be getting a practice game. If anybody is about and wouldn't mind a practice game I would be happy to play again.
This is would be good for as I've only played small 499 silver games a couple of times.
Very looking forward to meeting you all and losing. lol
