Sell Swords

Has anyone put much thought into a Sell Sword muster?
Could they be genuinely competitive?
Is it possible to just pick the 'best' infantry/monsterous infantry/missile troops/monsters/etc and call it a muster?
What would be everyone's 'go-to' unit and why?
The idea of a mismatched force of mercenaries appeals to me right now, and i'm looking for inspiration and opinions.
